  1. Well, we're still having thunder with heavy hail and rain (it alternates), it's absolutely miserable out there, the roads are going to be soaked as the ground is still frozen and the water cannot drain.
  2. Well, thunder, lightning and hail are all all making their appearance here in the easternmost parts of Dorset! As we're not getting snow, this'll do for entertainment!
  3. Just had the same up here - I just walked back from the supermarket in it all. Nature hates me...
  4. 980mb Azores Low anybody, with 1055mb Greenland High? Can we bank this run!
  5. Just appears to have stopped snowing here in Verwood, was pretty heavy as I came back from the Ski Centre (oh the irony), was pretty slushy on the road and settling on cars. Was a pleasant surprise, wasn't expecting to even see snow today!
  6. I'm surprised there's not a little greenish bit over Bournemouth! We're too far south for it to snow...
  7. Same(ish) here, looks a bit sleety though, I must admit.
  8. The Rain Today radar is taking the epic out of me - about a mile further north for about the last hour, it's been sleeting rather than raining, and some snow randomly appeared just north of Fordingbridge. Not happy...
  9. Same here, looks pretty wet out here in the eastern fringes of Dorset.
  10. Hehe...I just felt like pointing out how rubbish Dorset's prospects are compared to you northern types! After all, you are practically in Scotland up there! Cheers, we need all the luck we can get!
  11. Yep, Dorset will be Dorset! But I'm not holding out for much of the white stuff, we need to be a lot colder if we want some. Though it did look nice with a sugar coating of snow about this morning! You forgot our pitiful warning... South West England: Bournemouth Dorset Poole Widespread Icy Roads 0900 Mon 21 1200 Mon 21 Showers of rain, sleet and snow moving inland from the coast this morning will give widespread ice on some untreated surfaces. The public are advised to take extra care and refer to the 'Highways Agency' for further advice on traffic disruption on motorways and trunk roads.
  12. Well, we've had spits and spots of rain here. The BH31 snow shield seems to have held up, as everywhere else round here (St Ives, Three Legged Cross) seemed to have a covering of snow, but not us.
  13. Radar showing a big lump heading right towards Southampton - you easterners might be lucky, looking like snow to the west of the New Forest!
  14. Chucking it down...with rain. But I didn't expect anything else right now!
  15. Got some sleety rain here at the moment - hope it might turn to snow in a bit, but as this is heading Hampshire's way, I thought you might like to know!
  16. Forget that! It's just started raining/sleeting fairly heavily all of a sudden - probably a shower though...
  17. On the radar here: http://www.raintoday.co.uk/ Looks like something's bubbling up just east of Yeovil and heading towards the New Forest/Southampton as far as I can tell. No doubt the NW Extra Radar would give better detail, but I thought you kittens might like that!
  18. Looks like something's bubbled up and is headed my way on that...not that I'll be awake to see it...
  19. Indeed it is (1 mile from Hampshire) - but consider that Dorchester is also in BBC South (in fact, it only changes to Spotlight around Bridport) - what do they want to know from people from Brighton? It's all to do with transmitters really (for analogue), which is why King's Lynn (Norfolk) can receive Look North (from Hull) from the transmitter in central Lincolnshire. But that's a different story. BBC South have got better recently with Dorset, I used to watch many a broadcast where they'd not even acknowledge the place existed! It used to be Southampton, Portsmouth, Southampton, Reading, Brighton and Hove. But never mind! To be honest, we do seem to be a forgotten county at times! As for Bournemouth - we don't recognise the 1974 change of border!
  20. Hmmm...but the Meto likes to think differently - we're clearly in the South West as far as that is concerned. So it's all swings and roundabouts. I consider myself South Western to be honest, but hey, that's me! I'd rather get news from Cornwall than, say, Berkshire, because there are some pan-South West issues that will include us (and BBC South probs wouldn't worry much)! And Essex is East Anglia anyway - personally, I think that thread should be split 3 ways - London, East Anglia and South East (Surrey, Sussex, Hampshire, Kent, Berkshire). Happy days!
  21. Looks pretty slow moving to me - my best guess for any precipitation is about 2 or 3am at this rate! Quite what it'll be, I don't know, likely to be similar to what others have received. I'm just hoping the proximity to the coast doesn't screw things up for us! Also, let's hope the band doesn't fizzle out! The best thing is not to expect much/anything, and be pleasantly surprised when it arrives! Wish I could give some temps, but my nice little weather box has been broken for the last couple of years and I haven't been bothered to get it fixed! But it has got a little warmer outside (or so it felt). I've had to act as a bit of a taxi service round eastern Dorset this evening...
  22. Oi! Get back in the South West thread, you're from Dorset! South Central is a bit of a nondescript term...maybe it should just be "The Hampshire Thread"!
  23. Still nothing here in Dorsetshire, though nice to know you northerners up to Gloucestershire have got some, and Wiltshire too - hope the stuff in Wilts will head our way!
  24. Well, any snow that's due to Dorset can wait a while...I'm giving my dear old Mother a lift to and from her work's Christmas do tonight and I'd be a little annoyed if it started snowing! It can wait until I get back! How lovely to see Ian posting in here! I don't receive Points West in my location, but it seems you're well respected by the audience! In the absence of anyone from the BBC South region giving us updates, I assume from your posts that being that little bit further east may aid us here in Dorset?
  25. Oh goody. The ice cream van's just rocked up here. You couldn't make it up!
