  1. Absolutely stunning and so much better than the 12Z at this timeframe.
  2. Doesn't matter if it's slower. The cold is still coming. The way the high is positioning now, it looks like we won't have a repeat of high pressure slipping back south later, as we saw on the 12Z.
  3. -13 uppers on a 192 hour mean chart from 50 ensemble members. Absolutely stunning!
  4. That isn't the 12Z ECMWF. That is this morning's 0Z ECM ENS Ensemble member 13. Look at the text below the scale.
  5. Up to 9cm of snow in Kent by 192 hours according to Weather.us charts.
  6. 192 looks great on the ECM. The delay in colder uppers was only 24 hours.
  7. Well that's a bit different. Air is a less cold than the GFS at 168. -7 to -8 as opposed to -12 to -14. But it looks like it could be quite a bit snowier with that low off the east coast....Very interesting. Still a lot to be resolved!
  8. Core of the cold seems tilted more to the southwest than the west on the ECM. But let's see what 168 brings.
  9. The control is run with the same lower resolution as the rest of the GEFS members, which is a lower resolution than the GFS. If the control had the same starting data and same resolution then there wouldn't be any difference between the control and the operational. The reason why they deviate is because of the resolution difference between them.
  10. The control run has the exact same starting data as the op but run at the same lower resolution as the rest of the ensemble members. So they will often be similar, right or wrong.
  11. Just had a look through all 20 GEFS ensembles plus the control at 192 hours and from all those there is only 1 ensemble member that follows the op run at that timeframe.
  12. Will be interesting to see where the 12Z op run compares to the GEFS.
  13. GFS and UKMO are both very good up to 144. The "panic" is because of changes on the GFS beyond the range of the UKMO. They cannot be compared at that point.
  14. 06Z GEFS mean has -8 uppers in the south way out at 288 hours. It showed -2 uppers there on the 0Z.
  15. 06Z GEFS mean is an upgrade on the 0Z. A more extensive and larger cold pool.
  16. It's possible. The biggest snowfall of the 20th Century in Ireland was on 1st April 1917. Up to 4.2ft of snow was recorded with drifts of almost 10ft.
  17. 06Z GEFS mean is in agreement with op in showing a slower movement of colder air. Not a downgrade, just an issue of timing.
  18. 06Z was probably one of the greatest runs of all time. Even finishes with a 1947-esque snowstorm.
