  1. ECM ends on a great Day 10, and the days following this would only get better The frustration is that once again we are chasing the really good stuff at Day 9/10 while the short and medium term becomes more diluted and less interesting. And we all know Day 9/10 is highly likely to change before we get anywhere near it. That being said, it's great to have something like this to chase!
  2. Some frustrating less cold air introducing rain on Wednesday but looks like we will tap into cold from the north on this run shortly after...
  3. Showers coming in from the east coast, turning to snow inland from Sunday afternoon. Slight improvement on the 18Z GFS regardless of what happens later
  4. Day 10 could be interesting in places... Blizzards and heavy rain and wind oh my
  5. Uppers not cold enough for snow showers apart from on high ground, ECM showing rain for most there
  6. ECM at 240 hours, 10 days ago: ECM from this morning, 0 hours:
  7. How nice it is to see a real proper area of deep cold air to our east that we can tap into. None of this wishy-washy -4 muck. We just need to open the floodgates here...
  8. From my own memory, once uppers of -7/-8 sweep in then the showers popping up off the coast will usually turn to snow. That's the BFTE "feel". But with very intense frontal precipitation like the storm on the GFS around Day 10 you can get snow with uppers just barely below freezing.
  9. Around Day 6-7. Will probably change on the next run of course!
  10. Indeed, south the Scotland, the actual snow levels on the ICON are mainly 1-2cm and in very limited spots... I think we need to look further ahead for anything significant.
  11. Because it's showing the dew point at that time between +2 and +3. Needs to be 0 or below for precipitation to fall as snow.
  12. GFS accumulations up to Tuesday night showing mainly a 1cm dusting for the lucky areas, with high ground in Scotland obviously doing quite a bit better!
