  1. Been snowing here for most of the evening. Easing off a little now but a good and unexpected covering it has to be said!
  2. The discussion has well and truly tapered off.. let's keep positive!
  3. I'm not sure I like the look of that BBC graphic they just put on Wales Today either... Rain from Aber to Cardiff?
  4. depends on if the tide is in or out?! mate, feeling your pain!
  5. The ITV Weather just now was useless. Not sure there was any point in broadcasting it, if i'm honest.
  6. Need to see some more blue over west Wales. There was no ice or frost anywhere west of Carmarthen it would seem this morning. An interesting drive east to work.
  7. Amazing how the temps have fallen further east, but still holding up at 3.6 here with a dp of 1.4. Still very windy, although less so than about an hour ago.

  10. I've just watched the RTE Weather forecast (it's probably repeated every 30mins on RTE News Now http://www.rte.ie/player) Seemed to show snow over Wales all day on Friday from 9am to 9pm. Now that would be an interesting outcome. A weather front stalls over Ireland on Wednesday too, wonder will it tip the west coast of Wales at all?
  11. Just above 200m here, and the wind has really got up. Shame the temp is 3.9 (it's gone up) and the dew point is 1.9c.
  12. I think NI probably does quite well if the wind conditions are right. The Valleys gets snow because of the relative high ground. Further west we are dependent on getting real cold conditions. Maybe as things cool down through the week, widespread snow will become more of a realistic outcome. Not being pessimistic about this, just realistic. Maybe overcautious!
  13. The cold rampers have had us up the garden path. The milder weather isn't that far away to our west, hence the conditions here don't seem to be that cold. The -3 predicted last night, turned out to be +3 here. Although it was cold during the day, the easterly flow doesn't seen to be entrenched enough. A north/nw'ly delivers better for Wales, with showers off the Irish sea penetrating inland. Friday will be interesting - make or break for a snowy spell in Wales.
  14. he did also mention the word rain. We're so far out in this scenario anything could happen.
  15. I'm always a little confused with these charts. Do the coloured areas just simply suggest where it could rain/snow rather than a firm indication of actual precipitation..
  16. Looks good, doesn't it? But my concern is how quickly it will pass over and what follows behind it? More rain?! Would be better if it slid south eastwards. Not allowing any milder air to come in behind it.
  17. I can report that up on the Pembs / Carms border last night there were at least some snowflakes before the main band of rain. It helps being 700ft up above the sea and inland I guess!
  18. Hi Jack, I saw it. There was mention of Saturday night/Sunday and wintry showers to follow. Probably couldn't go much further than that in detail. Derek's away so we await his wintry tweets with great interest! M
  19. A slight Föhn effect with the temperatures at the moment, as the warm southerly airflow brings temperatures up to 13c today. Mild, damp and breezy for the weekend and early part of next week too. It's rather nice not having to have the heating on all the time. Shame it wasn't a little bit drier!
  20. Looks like it's staying mild, wet and windy into the first week of Jan... Does the coldest winter in 100 years seem to be slipping further and further away? Blowing a gale up here this morning and cold 5°C here. Much less windy and milder closer to the coast. Rain already here now, just waiting for the wind to whip back up again....
  21. It was extremely cold and frosty in much of inland Pembrokeshire last night. I expect it to be the same tonight...
  22. Cheers SP1986, I'm sure you'll be most welcome in the Wales Cymru thread also! Rather chilly tonight. It's been interesting to see how frost free we've been over the weekend - yet it has remained fairly frost over the sea in Ireland!
  23. How depressing! MetO: Heavy rain is expected to spread northeastwards during Friday, to affect parts of both southwest England and Wales. The public should be aware of the possibility of flooding and disruption to travel.
  24. The cold weather warning is an England only initiative - I think in partnership with the English Health Department. No such arrangement for providing that warning system exists in Wales. Although they don't make that very clear.
