  1. Could be worse. Could be stuck in Tier 4 London right in central London by the Thames where there is zero chance of snow falling with the current synoptics. I'm having to enjoy the pics on instagram. Anyways this was the scene in Headingley.
  2. I don't feel comfortable posting someones kids on here. But under the cookridge tag if you swipe to the second to last picture you can see the depth of around 2-3cm https://www.instagram.com/p/CJjF7lsJAUl/?igshid=4j8k8obtfsfh
  3. These were the scenes in Horsforth same scene's in Cookridge as well. But interestingly when you look under the Otley tag on Instagram there is barely a dusting even on the Chevin. Otley Chevin view....
  4. Reports of heavy lying snow in the central belt. Localised forecasts have also upgraded for high ground.
  5. The warning from the met office is a hodge podge warning covering any precipitation that has fallen earlier today all the way into tomorrow with the main risk being ice. It's not just related to the feature coming in which will largerly be of rain/sleet unfortunately. The localised met office forecast for low ground Leeds is 2/3.c with a mix of rain or snow. High ground Leeds at 210m (airport) is showing rain to begin with then snow at 1.c, so maybe something lying but I'd be surprised. I'm thinking close but no cigar.
  6. I'm stuck in tier 4 london for now so haven't been able to go to Leeds over the new year. Looking at all the charts the met office warning of lying snow above 250m for pennine areas Inland sounds about right. Showers mostly of rain with maybe a bit of sleet mixed in the further inland you go. Any falling snow would be well Inland on high ground above 200/250m. I'd say lying snow above 300m maybe even higher than that. -4 850's just won't cut it in an easterly, unless we see a really slack flow with next to no moderation from the north sea, and even then it would be well Inland.
  7. Got to North Leeds and there is still a fair bit of hail lying around
  8. Was hit head on, torrential rain with hail and thunder. Now sunny again.
  9. Big fluffy flakes the type you only get in Westerly flows. VID_20200303_004324~2.mp4
  10. Sleet down to sea level in the north west so we'll see. Could be another case of Sheffield missing out again and just a bit further north into Leeds it's snow.
  11. It's hard to say if there'll be snow. The meto thinks it'll be sleet at this elevation which sounds about right. The winds aren't coming directly of the sea for now but when they veer more westerly it'll rise temps plus we'll have slightly warmer 850's coming in. Regardless even at this elevation it'll be marginal.
  12. Sleeting in town now, across the Pennines the snow is settling down to 200m.
  13. Completely rain in town not even a hint of snow. Snowing at LBA. The meto computer generated forecasts seem to think it'll briefly turn to rain before turning to sleet on the back edge.
  14. Snow signal largely dropped for tomorrow, a mixture of rain sleet and snow for high ground.
  15. A band of rain and snow pushing through on Friday. It's marginal but should deliver to higher ground. Would be the last chance of seeing seeing lying snow this winter.
  16. No snow here but I wasn't expecting any such is the nature in these situations. It was snowing earlier but we missed the heavier precipitation. A covering down to lower levels in the Pennines all the way into the outskirts of Manchester.
  17. I'd be surprised if there is lying snow at your elevation tbh, at most a dusting. 850's aren't really good enough.
  18. The met office automated has gotten a bit excited. Also showing heavy snow for Friday as well before turning to sleet on the back edge.
  19. Also Friday is gearing up for several hours of snowfall during the afternoon as a front pases through turning to snow.
