  1. Fully white outside, just a shame it’s only frost but maybe this time tomorrow it will be through heavy snow rather than frost.
  2. Hope your right Cheese but if it can go belly up for the NW region then i’m pretty certain it will. your side of the Pennines, maybe a different story.
  3. Nice winters day now, just a shame that post Christmas inside jobs prevent me from getting out and blowing a few cobwebs away. Interesting to see Fridays BBC forecast showing snow widely across the region now even if only for the first part of the event but it’s a slight upgrade from what was showing earlier and before that there is the change of some overnight showers for those favoured by the NW wind.
  4. Thank god for that, just when I thought I might have to sit and watch some snow falling it looks like they’ve managed to find a spare warm sector just the right shape and size to fit us like a comfort blanket. unlucky for you folks in Cumbria though, get your shovels out it’s going to be a white hell out there.
  5. It will do, it’s just figuring out a way to develop a mild sector over us and then turn back to snow over the midlands and SE. BBC has me down for a few hours of heavy snow on Friday morning now rather a couple hours of light stuff showing earlier but the last let down had me for over 12 hours of heavy snow before pulling the snow rug completely from under my feet the day before.
  6. Nothing at home but just been to Burnley and the moorland at the summit has a slight covering from first thing yesterday. snow line is about 350m.
  7. Well not many people live higher up hills than me but BBC only have me for a couple of hours of snow during the morning. those graphics change constantly though so hopefully they’ll upgrade nearer to the time but i’m not expecting anything much so shouldn’t be disappointed on the day.
  8. The lightest of light snow falling when I put the wheely bin out earlier but even that has stopped now. never mind it’s eyes down for Fridays letdown now, my fiver is going on plenty of precipitation and ourselves in the middle of it but then an area of milder uppers parks itself right over the region and all we get is rain whilst all areas north of us along with Yorkshire get buried.
  9. Never mind, at least this time around I wasn’t expecting anything so less disappointment.
  10. Yeah that’s the point, it’s easier to put up with poor weather when you know that something better is around the corner. with us us we just never get around the damn corner.
  11. Yeah and i’m struggling to think of a worse one than us for decent summer weather as well.
  12. Don’t worry, it’ll stop just as the snow starts in the Midlands.
  13. Yep, surprised to see heavy snow falling when I opened the curtains this morning but it's very wet stuff and struggling to stick apart from the coldest surfaces. Better than nothing though and I'd imagine it's fully covered on the tops. maybe an excuse for a walk later.
  14. Back from a week's sneaky holiday in Gran Canaria and although a bit coolish after dark, 23c was more than adequate for spending the day lazing on a sun bed and drinking all the alcohol I needed. i assume that the northwest region has experienced its usual bore fest of weather and that I haven't missed any snow heavy enough to tell the grandkids about or that any is forecast over the Christmas period. not that I want any tomorrow though as we're out for a family meal and don't fancy any road disruption. in the meantime though, Merry Christmas to everyone and hope you all get what you wish for.
  15. Not more snow overnight but looks icy outside and my couple of cm are still laid on the ground. off to work shortly for the last time this year then an evening of wrapping presents and packing before a sneaky pre Christmas week in the sun.
  16. Why is there something comforting about laying in bed listening to cars and trucks struggling up the main road. its not often it happens but just glad it's not me trying to get home.
  17. Snow has eased off now and looking at the radar that could be the end of the really heavy stuff but it was impressive while it lasted. just need clear skies and a temperature drop and my last drive to work until after new year could be interesting.
  18. Bloody hell, my potential has turned into some of the heaviest snow I've seen for a long time. already a couple of cm on the road and it's still coming down. yesterday we got sod all from a favoured westerly now we get an unexpected dumping from a north westerly. This is turning out to be a weird winter
  19. Isn't La Palma the one where half of it is considering splitting from the other and moving to the USA
  20. Well if that was tonight then then don't worry, I was right under the red area and at 1000ft I only got heavy sleet. at 1400ft it was probably a whiteout but I think some decent altitude is going to be needed for anything other than a slush fest tonight.
  21. Thanks Sf, even if the poorest weather the Canaries can throw at me will be an improvement on what we've had up here this week, even more so considering what other parts of the country and our region have had. Back Christmas Eve, hopefully to a winter wonderland.
  22. Just come back from Burnley myself and I didn't have to climb much up past Towneley Park before rain turned to sleet and the road was covered in snow at Deerplay. more like sleet again here though.
  23. Went outside this morning worrying about having to clear 6 inches of snow from the cars and drive but thankfully and not for the first time in the last week, it was only 6 inches of potential that fell and when mixed with rain it's a damn site easier to get shut of than snow. more potential forecast for my part of the region overnight tonight. will I be high enough, will it head either north or south of me, will it stall and fizzle at the bottom of the road or will for once potential actually turn into snow. watch this space although TBH off to Gran Canaria for a weeks holiday on Saturday so not particularly bothered about snow, rain or potential at this stage of the week. a few days of sun, heat and 24 hour all inclusive will do nicely.
