  1. Interesting how marginal it was for the south cumbria on saturday gone. The local paper nwemail.co.uk showing decent falls in Ulverston and Coniston whereas 'inland' parts of coastal Barrow reported sleet only (by my Mum) and on Walney island rain only (by my Dad) !!
  2. Remember that well. The missus and I went to Glasgow on the train on the Friday morning from Leeds. Had to get off at Berwick and take the bus from there to Edinburgh because the line was blocked around the borders. I remember the snow on the side of the A1 where ploughed was massive..!
  3. Yeh spotted that.On the chart it was all around 0c and then -8 in leeds. I guess they are going because of Church Fenton though, the 'official' Leeds weather station I think? Down at -5.9c already ! www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/uk/yh/yh_latest_weather.html
  4. Yes it gets nasty up there j22 - j21 rishworth moor Just looked at the jamcams nothing of note I hope
  5. Level 5-6cm snow but good quality though. Powdery and no slush. Tbh don't see much thawage so looking forward to sledging with the kids 2moro. PS. Was impressed by cover in Leeds city centre this evening; even by the train station the road was fully covered!
  6. Finally back up to Pudsey. Level 5-6cm snow but good quality though. Powdery and no slush. Light snow at present.
  7. Will keep your ale cold anyway HC. Leeds city centre got a dusting on grass, pavements etc.was light now moderate snow. The ice rink looking rather wintry too
  8. Patience... Are you in east Leeds as its coming down in the city now..
  9. Thanks guys. Down in the city at work and can only access on limited time. Wish I was back up in Pudsey. Should be back for 7pm ish. Could be action time..!
  10. Jed / Cheese Rice, What's your take on this? Just looked at radar and there seems to be 2 lines of precipitation. Hopefully not a warm sector in between. Best case would be for first line to stall and be invigourated with the other..!
  11. Agreed. An England win, plenty of strong continental ale, get back in, kiss the Missus and turn my attention to a large pizza and watch the snow continuing outside from my conservatory. Don't want to be picky though.........
  12. Agreed.Leeds city is always rubbish for lying snow. I work at the LGI. Jed - I'm only hoping I have to walk home tomorrow nite..!!!...Least I'll be warm after a few sherbets
  13. A few snow grains coming down at the moment. Just checked the radar and the lightest of precipitation showing up. Q. Do I stay in the city tomorrow afternoon and watch the rugby and walk home because the snow is so bad the buses can't get up to Pudsey or get back and enjoy the fun from my house?
  14. Yeh I am at 185m so hopeful...should get a few hours atleast. When they forecast loads we get a bit, when they forecast a little we get loads......
  15. Hi Jed, The BBC do make me laugh. Just looked at their forecast for Leeds Bradford Airport tomorrow......I bet Cheese Rice is worried.... www.bbc.co.uk/weather/6296608 I wonder if they will take my £10 bet at William Hill in Otley that it does.........Payed by the BBC of course...
  16. Yep getting excited now.. Off to bed as the missus is calling me sad....
  17. Great post Jed.. I have good feelings about this front stalling. The last time I saw something like this was Feb 96 and was living on the Wirral. Set off strong SE wind Monday afternoon and snowed for about 20 hours continuous. Snow was about 12" deep even at sea level and 3 miles from the coast !
  18. Certainly some activity starting in the North Sea. We need some pepping up further north and drifting in...although the flow won't be strong enough to reach here I'm sure. BBc a few minutes ago had graphics showing N Yorks coast may be in the firing line tomorrow.
  19. Yep same here Cheese Rice. Light stuff blowing around in the wind. Significant drop in temperature and feeling since this morning too. Plenty of security light outside my conservatory watching instead of lamposts for me...although the band is very slim its a start..
  20. Got relatives in Chicago and keep an eye on their winter weather. I can't believe how mild it has been so far. Ok now it's colder but i'm use to looking in envy.. even from an occasional wintry Leeds
  21. Thanks... although the rain started coming in our windows last nite so it can bloody stop now...!
  22. Harsh Climate- How's the river Wharfe in Otley this morning? Anywhere near coming over? Haven't been working at the hospital this week so no chance to check.
  23. The incessant rain and wind on my very exposed front windows has caused them to leak slightly.....! The last time this happened was about 3 years ago on the back of the house with a continuous easterly and heavy rain. Might need a repair job I think. Damn this blasted wet weather. is it ever going to stop raining?? Jed - how's the Wharfe river in Otley.I bet it was nearly over the road bridge was it?
  24. Blustery heavy wintry showers here. High gusts in showers and feels cold too. Last shower left a complete covering on everything. Another heavy one packing in now as I type..
