 Jamie M Off topic

Saw your Aurora photos from yesterday, clouded out here though.

30 miles north of me had some clear skies 😤

14.8mm of rain so far.  Raining hard. Thick cloud out to the channel that isn't going anywhere today. There is nothing to give any surface heating.

Summer tyre rain band from France is just hitting now, very heavy rain in it, perhaps we need to look behind this?

I'm reading the visible radar as showing thick cloud back into France. The rain is certainly steady.

Perhaps I should change my handle to rain tyre 😡

Can’t see anything happening here today. Just another big standard rainy day like 90 percent of the last 8 months.

Sprites I know @Eagle Eye wasn't best pleased when he had cloud overhead whilst I had the aurora.

I'm sure the next G4 storm will be full cloud cover here anyway so not to worry!

Anyway back on topic, the rain is definitely coming and ever hoping for something convective

Seems to be a heavy burst just south of Newbury... Maybe something to keep an eye on over the next 30mins or so.

The cap looks to be stubborn in burning off when compared to the UKV model which was showing thundery showers that should have developed from 10am, so far aside from a few light convective showers across the Pennines there isn't much going on for now. Hopefully some topographic lifting or convergence will kick things off now we're at peak daytime heating.

Quite surprised at the lack of action so far, I might even be well placed as the rain in the SE quadrant possibly becomes more convective. The dew point is on the increase, so it's got the feel.

Still find it pretty unlikely though.
