Two very heavy snow showers within the last half-hour. The first started to settle before melting away. This one has left a good dusting on the hills, and a covering on the cars, grass, roofs. Very large flakes.

Re Weather Underground temperatures: you do have to be careful, as a lot of them do seem to over-read.  Morecambe may have a warmer climate than Lancaster during the winter, but the maxima are often reported on WUnderground to be 2-3C higher, and during the summer (when Morecambe is slightly cooler than Lancaster) they can be 4-5C higher.

A lot of the weather underground stations are private stations, so do not necessarily follow the rules of placing the sensor in a screen, 4ft above ground and in good airflow.

Classic symptoms of this are over-reading temperatures on sunny days, sometimes by several degrees.

Another amazing day. So far... 6 snow showers, the latter 3 produced blizzard conditions and I had another 2cm covering for a time. A slight thaw occured when the sun came out after the most recent snow shower had passed, but the slight covering should remain preserved through the night now.

Another heavy snow shower, they all seem to be following the same pattern......polystyrene balls, increasing in intenstity for 10 minutes, before changing to big snowflakes for 10 minutes.

One light short snow shower around 4pm. Another heavier, but equally short shower at 5-15pm that allowed a sprinkling to settle. Couple of bigger showers bearing down on me as I type.

Derby has had 4 heavy snow showers today with blizzards in two of them. Did not settle.

The 17:00 shower gave a total covering including roads. Clouds increasing again.
