Snow/wintry Precipitation Reports 27th Dec 2005

Our first snow started about 25 mins ago. A combination of snow pellets (mainly), and one shower of beefy snow flakes mixed in between.

Now stopping/stopped (Actually, snow flakes just starting up again). Small covering on the ground, but settling when the snow flakes start.

A fine layer of snow pellets about 8 miles south of here (Ashby-de-la-zouch) about 09.00, although there was nothing here in Derby at that time.

We also missed out on snow showers about 6 miles s/e of here at about 10.30 (was driving up the A42).

Not bad really...local forecast showing worse tomorrow for midlands.

Heavy snow showers here all morning until recently to the South of Ashford, though it has been sunny the last hour or so with the snow melting with a temp of 3.6C

Huge clearance now in Suffolk, temperature has risen to dead on freezing, 0.0C. Still 2cm's lying, but a bit of a thaw setting in where the sun is reaching.

Another snow shower in Cleadon. It started sleety at 3.2C, but turned to snow as the temperature fell to 2.0C. Still very much a "sunshine and showers" theme.

Just had a very brief shower lasting only a few minutes. It was like a mixture of hail and snow.....soft but pellet shaped. I think i'll called it SNAIL.

Well I'm shocked to report that we actually had a very brief snow shower an hour ago

We've had about 2cms (early this morning) but is now fine and sunny with no showers in sight - slow thaw starting to set in with temp just above 1C/34!

well i can confirm wehad snow here not much but its a covering and its not melting

Heavy snow here too for about 15 mins, but it's settling on roads here!

I fear when it stops it will just melt again

Just had a heavy 15min snow shower about 30 minutes ago. Some settling, but as the snow from this morning had started to melt, it hasn't settled everywhwere. Still only a dusting.

We have just had a light snow flurry here in Cheltenham. Not settling yet, but it looks as though there is more on the way. Dark clouds over towards Cleeve common.

We had a few snow flakes fluttering about earlier, the sky is getting quite dark at the moment up here in North Aberdeenshire. Maybe more to come?

Couple of (bit blurry) shots of most recent shower (about 15 mins ago). Have a covering now - the main advantage of my elevation is that there isn't much melting between showers so hopefully by the end of tomorrow I should have a decent amount.

Oooooh bit of snow just fell here! Very unexpected, but cool! Had about 20 minutes of light to moderate snowfall, a slight dusting is left on the grass and pavements.

Just started snowing here in Darlington (on the cam). Turning a bit "sleety" at times but its not laying yet, a bit too wet I think.
