little change from the past week, high in much the same area, cloudy areas with clearer slots circulating around it. Minor fronts only around its ne'ern flank, one tomorrow, weak.

Just a quick heads-up for those of us lucky enough to live in Scotland, and those who might be able to tune into BBC2 Scotland on SKY.

Landward has moved to a new Friday evening slot at 19:00 from the traditional Sunday morning (when those of us up here couldn't get Countryfile). And this means there is a new extended forecast for Scotland (including the daily Atlantic Pressure Charts) at about 19:15 - showing the weather up to and including the following Wednesday. This of course means, that with the Countryfile forecast on a Sunday, we are fortunate in having two overlapping weekly longer range tv weather forecasts

Tonight's was with Peter Gibb - excellent presentation, mild until Monday then back to the seasonal norm after a wet weather front pushes through.

Jay Winn today in a casual green jumper... Daily Atlantic charts - highs of 17ºC for the week ahead (Weds/Thursday/Friday) 'well above the average for the time of year' and a diminishing risk of frost as the week goes on. High pressure in charge - basically boring!!

Doesn't look good for a cold frosty Bonfire night then?

As my husband often says in such circumstances Don, the answer to your question at the moment is 'Who can say?!'. Nov 5th is a bit too far out to have an idea for the day itself but perhaps the METO 'Further Outlook' gives some clues:

Really enjoyed countryfile forecast today for the prime reason Rob McCellwee presented it.

Rob doesn't hype or try to indicate his personal preferences, he is quite old school in this respect. Had it been one of the usual current presenters, the week coming up probably would have been described as being largely chilly. However, Rob summarised the week as being less cold, which in fact is very true although maximum temps for the large part remain very near average.

I wish Rob could do all the forecasts all the time a true professional.

hi kippure. :)

what did countryfile say about the coming week?

Nothing much to say really, just High pressure with differing amounts of cloud across the country during the day and night. Temps around 4-5 during the day and 0-2c at night, looks like the High slips away on Friday.

Boring, Boring, Boring.......................Give me low pressure :)

Phil Avery today giving a very upbeat summery forecast. Enjoyed watching the animated Atlantic Pressure system charts, showing the high pressure mving in from the SW over the UK and into Scandi with the low pressure set to develop in the Irish Sea mid week.
