Tough one to call, but it looks like starting fairly average (warm sectors getting swept away by cold fronts with low-ish jet) but difficult to rule out a heatwave that could bump it up.

After thoughts can i put in a revised punt of 15.4c down. I'm begining to think a cool first half to August is becoming quite likely, with the NAO swinging very negative recently i think this could well continue for a while yet.

But i think its possible that we may get a warmer second half, and a late heatwave maybe.

Just a novice's guess :huh:

Slightly above average.. We've had 3 average or below average Augusts in a row, it would be remarkable in this day and age to make it 4. Hence:

I thought I might end up revising my August prediction downwards. It looks like being a fairly average sort of August, with warm spells more likely into the second half. 16.6C is my new prediction.
