With the combination of a cool start, high pressure next week bringing higher temperatures and then a real mixed bag throughout August, I'd say something a little above average as July has still managed to be slightly above average here. Therefore I will go with 16.6C.

I like the way you leave gaps between below average entries and average entries; between average entries and above average entries; and then between above average entries and Craig Evans! :)

With RJS on this one.

A very warm and sunny August in prospect with a CET of 17.9C

Given my unerring ability to be way out & as I have a holiday later in August I'm tempted to go really low B)

However I think it will be the warmest month of the summer, more notable for a lack of anything particularly cool, rather than heat.

So, 16.8c for me please

Dave

I'll stick with my earlier forecast for August i.e. it will be cooler than July but only ever slightly so, thus 16.4 degrees is my guess (I'm assuming the July CET will be 16.5 or possibly 16.6).

I think it will be a generally unsettled month with low pressure the dominant feature, best weather will be reserved for mid-late August perhaps around the bank holiday. Main feature those heights to the north, they don't look like diminishing fast. No euro high this summer then...

I think the overall summer pattern is pretty much locked down now, generally unsettled although occasional hot days in SE England may bump the CET up to 16.4C

I think the reloading warmth will play a bigger role in early August pumping up the CET. No doubt a cooldown later in the month though.

I'd go for above average but no records - 17.1c for me
