You lot are pessimistic bunch. Of course the pennines will take some of the force out of the precipitation, but the main band has not made it into West/North Yorkshire due to timing. Give it a couple of hours and the main band will make its way over!

I agree, not on the pessimistic bit though :w00t:

It isnt even snowing on the western pennines yet, so the pennines arent taking away any precipitaion at all yet...

We will soon see, once the precipitation reaches the western slopes of the pennines.

Hi Brian, hope you are keeping well :p

There is a shower appearing on the NW radar that looks like your way - it just went right through my postcode but nothing happened, no threatening clouds either! So don't get excited about that I would say.

Precip now at the Pennines and crossing over OK, but it will probably diminish. Notice how thin the front is compared to other areas of the UK - that's heading for us :p

Bad luck again probably, let's just hope the ECM is right with the storm tomorrow. GFS 18z will be out very soon so within 20 mins we should get another look at the potential track.

Sorry Dave, I got side-tracked mate.

The shower hasn't quite reached me yet, but it certainly looks as though it will

be bang on target :o

My postcode is YO60, by the way.

By the looks of the fax chart, the front looks like it stalls over our region for a while,so even if the ppn is light many places could at least see a covering.

Just sneaked into the North west thread and they are reporting disappointing rain/sleet. At least the NE have the advantage of the snow hitting us after sunset when it is colder. Swings and Roundabouts. I'll be happy with a dusting tbh.

Really hope it shows the low track slighty further North. Was so frustating to see those showers from last weeks low make it as far as North as South Yorkshire and No further. Leeds has had it's fair share (If you compare it to NW England!), but another hit would be most welcpme!

Dewpoints on this side of the Pennines are much lower than they are in NW England and so are the temps, however the dewpoint and the temp are too far apart for any PPN to reach the ground here as the air is too dry. If any PPN does come along and the temps and dewpoint are pretty close together, it should be snow no matter how light it maybe.

Temps dropping of nicely, temps rising/dropping throught the day, mainly due to any sunshine, 1.3c atm.

Good and Bad-

<_< percip loosing intensity over pennines

<_< midlands getting more snow

:D percip will hit when its dark meaning snow is more likely to stick

:D percip later meaning lower temps and better chance of snow

:D snow reports in Liverpool, bodes well for here

:D plenty of lying snow over W/N Yorkshire making lying snow inevitable

:D still in Line with Meto predictions of 5cm

:D possibly stalling over NE england (wether this affect me i dont know)

Looking good atm :D

I don't think that's a concern, really, because it's a lot warmer on the Western side today.

I think Steve Prudence was recording temps of around 5c.

Edit: Seen Geordie's post

Thanks Paul <_<

Back in my side of leeds now. I'm on my phone so can't click links. Car reads around three degrees centigrade. Plenty of snow here in east leeds still. sky is clear and there does seem to be a slow thaw till it freezes.
