Had at least 4/5 inches of snow today in North Oxfordshire

still light snow

That's unbelievable. I've just been looking back through the nw radar though and it now makes sense to me why other parts of oxfordshire have got so much more than oxford. Thing is, I previously thought the fact that over the last 48hrs all ppn seemed to die just before it hit oxford and pep up after it left was a radar glitch. Now I realise it must actually be happening.

Here are radar maps which show what went wrong. Quite an unbelievable miss. Maybe by a couple of miles

Amazingly bad luck.

Beat you !!

post-2786-1233928055_thumb.jpg

Where are you ??

Shutford, and you're in Warwickshire! Rah!

Nearly had a run in with that corner by the Ratley turning as you head into Edgehill village from the Stratford Road (the turning nearest to Banbury) on Monday, was going round that 90 degree corner and car just kept sliding! Averted disaster though.

T'is interestingd as meto said it would be gone by 2pm ... and its still at it. Not measured my snow yet. but its only just a wee dusting for now.

Beka Hi

20 mm here now in just over an hour and I am only 10 mins up the road. Pretty narrow band I'd say although the radar is expanding and dare I say it there are the odd red flashes in there too.

Cheers

Yes it's a tricky one, still got an OX postcode which confuses the issue.....

Yes, they go by postal towns that's why you have an OX post code. Henley on Thames has a RG (Reading) postcode, though it's in Oxon not Berks.

Good effort on the 11 inches though, must be that few extra feet.

Having checked the UKMO charts i can see why the Met-Office fancy snow for the Midlands and North on Sunday. GFS makes it marginal but the UKMO has the colder upper air safely over the Midlands throughout the whole time. I don't think i'll make any predictions about it until tomorrow, little changes in the positioning of the precip or mild sectors could make a big difference. Heres hoping for another nice period of snow though!

Hello Andy.........yep, it looks a possibility.....the further north one is, the better I think...Definitely one worth keeping an eye on

BBC News 24 Forecast just went out to Sunday and it seems anywhere North of about the M4 should do well. I expect here may see some rain towards the back edge but its one to keep an eye on as a couple of inches are possible. 12z coming out soon...

Only 1/2 cm here. Which may contain some remenants from Monday also.

30mm here in 2 hours and the radar returns are getting more intense. Heavy snow. But the low is slowly but surely moving East maybe slow enough to get that next radial.

The next hit is for coxy22 in Portsmouth as his front door porch has been waiting for some considerable time :(

12z is an upgrade for Sunday i think. Cound be nasty on the roads as less cars are on the road meaning snow more likely to settle especially on the main roads. Thats exactly what happened here on Sunday 18th November 2007 i think it was. People were sliding all over the place.

Now that was funny ! You are beginning to sound like Matty from Ireland on the model watch thread

35mm here in 2.45 hours. Not quite so heavy.

If its any consolation none in Andover when I go home.

Sunday and Tuesday yet and I expect Glacier Point will drum up some good stuff beyond that.

Yeah these government tests must be a new departure though...

Two years ago we hit the jackpot with that frontal snow (got up to 6 inches then). Just hoping the models will revise their opinion of this sunday monday event and do the same (or maybe a bit better?) again.

Any idea how much snow is due to fall during sunday?

And roughly what time scale are we talking about here?

Anyone have any idea if these showers coming into North Wales are going to cause any further significant accumilations?

I was wondering the same thing, i think there could be several cms in places from them.

Perhaps a Cheshire Gap streamer will form later to?

The BBC did seem to have the Cheshire Gap effect going on tomorrow morning at around 6am and affecting places like here.
