Yes true, i am hopeful tho that if we still have some ppn left at night fall we could see some more snow before this clears.

I'm hoping that too but you're probably more likely to get the snow up there than me here at 18mASL lol. I'm just praying this low pressure area on Monday/Tuesday can stay a bit further south. At least that way after a major dumping of snow, high pressure will follow on and I much prefer snow to gradually melt than get washed away by rain.

If that low plays ball then somerset and even to lower levels good get a pasting!!!

I am going to be so excited tomoro at work (my first day back since last monday lol) I can't begin to emagine the depths of the fields after that if it happens because the snow isnt melting much where it is deep now. :shok:

p.s. the sleet is getting snowier and temps starting to fall abit 2.3 now

I noticed that too. Even here where it was positively raining for half an hour, the snow just doesn't want to go anywhere on the grass and roofs. Most of it is infact floating down the street in the side-road rivers rather than melting. Glad to see the temperature dropping too.

We had some pretty heavy rain here, but it hasn't melted any of the snow, that I can see. All very odd. Its now cleared, setting us up nicely for a frost maybe.

Heres Mondays forecast from the Met Office for Wales and the South West:

Wales:

A frosty start, but bright for a time with north Wales remaining dry. Elsewhere, thickening cloud will bring sleet or snow northwards during the afternoon on strengthening easterly winds. Maximum temperature 4 °C.

http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/uk/wl/...st_weather.html

South West:

A mostly dry and bright start. However, rain will spread northeastwards on strengthening easterly winds, becoming heavy and prolonged, and perhaps turning to snow over high ground later. Maximum temperature 5 °C.

http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/uk/sw/...st_weather.html

Which was updated at 15:46 today.

Had some heavy wet snow here earlier, certainly not a bad week at all in terms of snow here.

100% rain here, even with the temperature dropping. Very dark skies to the south too.

What I don't get with the forecast is how heavy rain is forecast here for tomorrow despite very strong easterly winds. Is there not enough cold air around to turn it to snow. Very strange weather.

Just saw BBCNews24 forecast at 4.30. Still looking like a stonker for snow tomorrow, certainly a large area around the Bristol Channel, taking in Bristol, South Gloucs, Gloucs, Wiltshire, BaNES, Somerset, SEWales and further East. I'm quietly hopeful.

Have had rain/sleet this afternoon, but it hasn't made much of a dent in the lying snow, which might disappoint those infiltrators from last night! :)
