Where abouts in Leeds are you? I can see some precip in the inner ring road lights but it looks like very light snow at best?

No offence to the person who said it was sticking, but it not atm even here where it is colder :) , the snow is heavier than what you can see around the lamp-post far heavier, walk into some ones front garden if you can and those big white lights will come on, this shows all at best :)

Been snowing moderately for over an hour here. Small flakes, but already all surfaces are covered.

It's sticking. No Evostick involved. Perhaps because I'm on the edge of Leeds and the temp is that bit lower?

The main thing that's going to determine whether it's settling or not is how heavy it is, rather than height unless it's considerably more.

Does anyone think the snow will get this far

Nope. It'll crawl north at snails pace, stop south of us then pivot.

I'll be surprised if we get anything and I'm 30 miles south of you.

Slight possibility of slight drizzle or snizzle in my area around midnight for a short while before it ebbs away south. The pessimist in me thinks it won't get this far.

Welcome to my world.

This happens to me all the time, ask Hannegan.

We must be almost cousins or something. Rain is great anyway, don't underestimate rain.

Small flakes but a moderate fall.

Not quite as thrilling as cold rain though Paul.

Freezing rain is the bomb. Minus 1.5 and raining, you just can't beat it. That happens here also.

Has it actually left a measurable depth then?

The things I do for Netweather [bIG SIGH]. Just been crawling around on the balcony in the dark. About 1/2cm. I did say "small flakes" :D

The precipitation is making painfully slow progress this evening.

The northern extent has pretty much stopped at York in the last two hours but I notice it is beginning to pivot NW, as precipitation is intensifying and moving up the east of York.

Actually I have to agree there, there's nothing like freezing rain.

As for the precip tonight, it looks like it will just about reach the majority of Yorkshire before moving S again - however at the most we can hope for 2cm except in the SE of the region which could see more (e.g. Doncaster).

Shame really that this thread is going to go quiet for a fair while after this I think; no snow events showing up on the 12z and it looks like we may have to wait a while whilst we sit under a cold block. Normality for Paul Tall though, nothing noteworthy.
