BBC haven't yet updated their 5 day forecast.

Normally by now it'll be showing tomorrow onwards.

Paul,

I am convinced it would be rain down the east coast anyway with the wind coming in off the sea, unless the PPN was really heavy maybe.

Yeah, and it won't be really heavy this far north, maybe moderate - if projections are right.

In fact on the Channel Low thread, somebody posted precipitation animations and we were under rain.

This is as far N as things get on the GFS:

http://gfs.netweather.tv/gfs.20090208/18/33/ukprec.png

Trending towards the ECM I think, along with the UKMO.

- Major Upgrade -

UKMO 18z is out; the low is EVEN FURTHER N

Here's the next little bit i'm watching for, east of Carlisle...

let us know if that bit east of Carlisle makes it over the Pennines.

This snow is really lingering over some parts, and intensifying a bit too.

It's snowing lightly here now.

Parts of Northumberland should certainly be getting a fair bit

BBC still haven't updated their 5 day forecast to start from Monday.

Goes to show how uncertain things are at the moment.

Certainly appear to intensify as they cross the Irish sea, then it's just a short hop across country to us, with no time to diminish. Even the Pennines dont seem to be sucking all the energy out of them, which makes a pleasant change.

Well I've just re-subscribed to the NW radar. Had to be done.

See what the next hour brings although I think i'm too far south to get anything else.

Been snowing here for quite a while now, shame its very light snow though so not really adding anything more than what we got, bit frustrating when you see heavy PPN just to the North of you and it does look like for tomorrow night event we will probably be too far south for any snowfall. Saying that, it probably would of been rain because of the winds coming in from the N Sea and uppers being below above -5.

Finally the first proper snow shower of the night. Big flakes and coming down moderately.

God i'm praying this snow storm tomorrow keeps getting massively upgraded and move even further north. Sod them southerners they've had their fair share. Our grit needs to be used sometime or over.

Well guys this is the big day and we all need to pull our weight!

Use either NW extra or raintoday radar to track the northernmost extent of the precipitation at 9am, 12pm, 3pm, 6pm, 9pm and compare this with the GFS at the same time frame. Currently about 20 miles further N I'd say. Then we'll get an idea of where we are and what the chances are for Yorks. We really want the UKMO to be correct so keep tracking

I'm rather confused, this morning, Dave: Some people are saying on other threads that the UKMO has this system further South, but

to my eyes it appears to be further North.

Once again though, there are big differences between the GFS and UKMO models

Edit: that's why - it's because they are talking about the UKMO 06z Raw output, which I hadn't seen

Its looking like its going to be too far South for us in north North Yorkshire and south County Durham to tap into Mr My Graupel.

Best case scenario is 2 or 3 hours of precipitation between midnight and 3am, mainly light/moderate, and just as likely to be rain.

We need some major upgrades to the track of the low.
