Darkening cloud bases with spots off rain, lots of solid Tcu going up around, may see something here afterall.

Monster cell heading for N EA, S Lincs. Alot of Sferics and an absolute downpour in that storm!

i was looking at that to, however looks like the heat of the day (a term im using loosely) is having a dramatic effect in building storm cells moving NE. i would say that if you catch one it could be slow moving and potentally cause local disruption.

Gotta say that Cell to the North East of Leicester is an absolute Beauty!

Some serious RF Totals out of that and I'd expect some Hail from this as well.

heh third storm of the summer strongest one yet. Peak rainfall rate of 166mm per hour. Of course didn't sustain that but 19mm of rain in forty minutes. Bit of old hail mixed in it as well for extra measure.

No doubt Sheffield is flooded again.

Looking at the radar it looks like this will be it for a period of time.

The shield is working very well again for here :D

Patience... the convergance zone is very close, things brewing just to the west expect something to happen in the next hour or so :) .

The thing about it is, of course, the most unstable part of the day for the S/E is late afternoon, early evening. Here, in Erith, there are some monsters going up - and, they only took about an hour to build. Some real mean looking bases to them, too.

It is me or does that 'mini' low showing up on the SLP charts seem to be tracking a smidgen more southerly?

image rom 11am of the two areas of interest so far, the one to the South has grown quite a bit and anyone North of the wash could see quite a show.

the other looks like moving into the humber.

Not surprised about Cornwall, having been out for some electric just now, you can see the towers building towards Millbrook and Torpoint.

Convection here is going nuts, the sky is full of Tcu and Cu-congestus, you can watch them growing before your eyes. Some are amazing look like mushroom clouds from a nuclear explosion, this white towers with billowing colliflower heads on top. Fingers crossed it's gonna go bang soon, keeping my eyes on radar, anything thats normally around oxford makes a b-line towards here :)

I'm in CMK too, the view from my office is spectacular. The sky is dark to the northwest. :D

As far as i'm aware, we don't really issue watches/warnings for scattered TS's unless there's a real risk of something severe, i.e tornadoes, lots of +ve strikes, strong conv gusts etc.

tks Dave I assumed that was the case looking at your warning list

Looks like that TCU over the NW I saw earlier did turn thundery afterall.

I won`t be in this afternoon Karyo, but a quick update the old cell from the SW it`s much closer. :D It doesn`t look that good further west rather disorganised and not that dark,1 rather nice TCU very close east here might tap into it later, but it doeesn`t look like much will happen yet not here anyway.

Happy storm hunting.

I still have faith for round here considering the metoffice say nothing will happen here until after midday.

Slow-moving heavy showers and thunderstorms are likely to develop after midday and continue through the afternoon and into this evening. These showers have the potential to give local rainfall totals of 20 to 30mm in 3 hours or less, possibly in excess of 50mm in one or two places.

The public are advised to take extra care and refer to the Highways Agency for further advice regarding traffic disruption on motorways and trunk roads.
