noted young man-perhaps you missed the warning they had out for a time on the trough which I assume you are referring to?

Nope. Just pure observation mate.

Air warm and CAPE high. So something somewhere had to kick off. Warm temperatures too. (Currently 22.7ºc here).

As I speak, (alright, TYPE!) High level Cirrus and Cirrocumulus and a very dark layer based load of Cu heading my way.

Pics later with permission?

Phil.

I have just changed my title from snowless to rainless Hampshire triangle, watching with interest the storm information quite often heavy rain has been not too far north of here but always just out of range. Our winterbournes have dried up early and although i keep no records,as a gardener I know that rainful totals here are woeful, quite how far below average I cannot be sure, but with grass taking on a yellow/white appearance and even established shrubs looking decidedly sad we certainly could do with some raifall now.

What I find strange is that for about 6 days now this area has been forecast some form of rainfall from showers to longer spells of rain, Thursday being a classic case only to find just enough precipitation to dampen the pavements, cant work out how the forecasts not matching the reality.

The rest are almost live. (Well -30 minutes or so ...)

Convection in latter pics and what should go bang later for some. :D

Phil.

Jane Louise...

If I'm right, you can exit your own thread looking at this load of convection from South Wales/Midlands. Looks for once like you lot are in the firing line.

Phil.

Yup!! Those pics sum up the whole day here in S.Wales. Was some pretty impressive convection this a.m

Just got back from swimming at a pool at a place called Howe (for those who want look on a map  , it's just south of Poringland, and I saw the definite outline of something anvil-topped to the south - somewhere just past Brooke, I suspect.

Nice pics Phil!

Went for a drive to Kerry today with Paul Sherman and his Wife, saw some impressive Cb's but mainly Heavy Rain Showers today. Some stunning scenery though with the West Coast of Ireland, Atlantic Ocean and Mountains as a backdrop.

It was indeed some downpour, quite strange in the middle of it the rain stopped very abruptly as if someone had turned off the tap! 10 seconds later it was hammering down again.

Overall that downburst produced 5.6mm rain

No thunder though

Phil.

I love the grays whites and blue sky of convective weather, thanks for taking those, very nice :D

Eastern Northern Ireland and North East Ireland are having fun too on radar.

I see I am in for a slight chance tomorrow morning, I live in hope.

Good luck stormchaser1 hope you at least get some thunder. My best storms lately at home were when I was away 20ish miles or so at bloody work :D:D

Monday looks promising, decent CAPE values and lapse rates, could be quite a few storms with hail mixed in. Something worth watching over the next few GFS runs.

Theres usually a very good chance of seeing some impressive clouds/showers in lows at least so monday`s the day to watch

May see something better tomorrow to today too.

Evening S1 still drinking Newcastle Brown here, looks like the recession delayed my visit to Newcastle, having a nice time though all the same.

Hope you are well.

Good luck on Monday, I see that high pressure may make headway soon finally according to the fax. This can only be good for us storm freaks in the end, just think MSC, Tornado's  My god Tornado's, if I see one of those this summer I'll attempt a 72oZ fillet steak. :D

I have a good feeling about this summer, reasonably hot and stormy :D

Now back to the convective stuff, IMO Catalonia and the general SE Pyrenees has decent storms ATM, lucky buggers.

Regards,

Russ.

Thanks all for piccy comments, to Rustynailer and Jo lots of numbers which I can't remember. You do sound like a call centre with that as a username though.

"Hi can I speak to Jo on ... (Oh forget it!) :D

It didn't get any better, in fact... It's all gone downhill fast from 7pm onwards. I'm still looking at Monday for the more, shall we say... Interesting stuff.

Have a good evening. :)

Phil. (It's still bloody hot though! And for the mods... Isn't a new thread possible. Sounds daft posting in a thread so yesterday!)

For tomorrow: ( But will it happen!! I doubt it,it wont for me anyway lol)

UKASF Storm forecast:

Regions Affected

Northern Ireland, Ireland, Scotland (excluding the far east), NW England, Wales and SW England ( all of the UK is included in the WATCH )

Synopsis

Similar to Saturday, an area of LOW pressure centred just to the west of Ireland in the Atlantic will be the main dominating feature of the weather across the United Kingdom on Sunday. Numerous showers will be present even at daybreak across quite a few areas thanks to embedded troughs and fronts within the anticyclonic flow around the area of LOW pressure. Further showers and thunderstorms are expected to become very widespread across Ireland and Northern Ireland for much of the day, and increasingly so across Wales and Southwest England later in the afternoon and throughout the evening, due to an approaching occlusion. The showers will move in a northeastward motion across the UK - yet again a broad area has been highlighted, but not all of the showers will be electrified. Moderate winds will ensure the showers/storms should move through fairly quickly, so the flash flooding risk is somewhat limited to areas most prone to frequent showers (western parts of both islands in particular). Ireland/Northern Ireland, and later Wales/SW England appear to have the most favourable environment for thunderstorm development. Showers will decrease in coverage across eastern areas rapidly during the evening hours, but will persist across many western areas throughout the night, and so will the associated risk of thunder and lightning.
