Well, I think it is conclusive that it is going to rain in some form in the SE!

Whether or not it is thundery, will remain to be seen! Hopefully, but I am not holding my breath...

None. Can I have my $64,000 now please? :)

No, sorry weather09. You "phoned a friend", who was absolutely clueless! Serves you right for choosing Piers Corbyn. :)

Regards,

Tom

my god it's hot!

Raining here in London - moderate in nature, but by God they are FAT drops!! Very convective like, and very dark too!!

Not overly excited by the rain moving up - we are almost guaranted now to be hit in the SE, but whether it intensifies or not...who knows...!!

Off home now, will back online in about an hour and a half...hopefully :D

'noon MW :)

just hot, or potential for storms too??

my thermo is reading 30.4C, and it is cloudy so that must be fairly correct? (ie no direct sun on it)

and feels very stormy.

totally agree, I don't care what the weather does now I just want it to COOL down.

would be nice to have a bang on it's way out though :D

Good lord! Is that a funnel right over your head??

What I know about weather, I could fit on the back of a stamp, but whatever you call it, its not happy!

Gone very very dark, wind has picked right up, and its raining, their have been 3 bangs of thunder so far.

I can here the lightning detector going off over in the RAF base in Henlow and on the Golf Course also.

Looking very misrable out, ill take more pics and post ASAP.

I was like that until VERY recently - now, you could fit my knowledge on a pocket notepad sheet! :)

If you look at your photos, near enough the centre of the storm cloud, there's a bit that looks like a funnel (or a nipple :D ) hanging down - this suggests rotation in the storm and can spawn a tornado.

gone very dark over central london . strange activity in the skies. the clouds are bonkers today - its like the tropics. i expect some fun and games later - unlikely to go out with a whimper , i feel , this evening. storms are so unpredictable though so who knows!

Really big drops of rain coming down heavily here now. Shame there's not really much electricity in this rain system, it's just going to be a very wet evening.

EDIT: This rain has sprouted from nowhere, on the eastern edge of the huge rain band. Radar shows nothing, then 5mins later a big red blob over me.

Few rumbles of thunder heard now, along with very heavy rain, just got soaked trying to get my guinea pigs in from their run.

So much for no more sferics... :D

Hopefully one day, Ill be lucky enough to be as clued up as you!

5 mins before I took that pic, it was clear sky, and it went really dark outside, so I went out to see what was what and saw that, so I took a pic on my phone.

Really didnt think anything of it other than it being a nasty cloud, but looking at the pics and the bits you pointed out, I wish I had took a load more!

Thanks for pointing out to me and explaining! Learnt something new :-) Thanks!

Altocumulus and hazy sky here , however to the east is turreted altocumulus!

The best place for storms later i'd say will be more eastern areas of kent , margate/ramsgate e.t.c
