Interestingly temp begining to drop (3.4C) and precip now heavier and has turned to proper snow! I assume evaporative cooling is coming into effect?

Lightest of snow here atm. Very heavy ppn heading straight for me, should survive the pennies and keep intensity.

I am quite excited about this even if it is not progged to really settle or stay, have an air temperature of 3C and a dew point of 0C at around 500 feet, so it could be an all snow or a snow to rain or a rain to snow to rain event, but still the third marginal event in four days so looking good.

According to the radar its just about here, i am in Leeds City Centre but my house is on higher ground so hopefully be back by then.

Temp here is 2.8c and according to one site the dew point in High Wycombe not far from here is -1... Wasn't expecting snow this far south but maybe get a few flakes after all?

Just found a weather station about 15 miles SW of here at almost the same altitude as me.

http://saysarts.co.u...S/mainframe.htm

Temp is 2C and dewpoint -1.4C. A long as things don't change too dramatically surely i'll have a bit snow to look forward to later :pardon:

Not looking good for low areas near the coast though, temp at South Shields is 4.9C and dewpoint 1C.

Also a quick question, a while back someone posted a link to a site with loads of roadside weather observations all over England with temps, dewpoints, current weather etc. Does anyone have that site handy?

Here you go.Vaisala ICE :Traffic Weather

I think it was paul tall who originally posted it.

I noticed a few flakes of sleety stuff in the headlights glare whilst driving through Rawnsley, Cannock, and the odd wintry splat on the windscreen, but apart from that, mainly drizzle.....Dewpoints and surface temps are generally on the rise across England & Wales..T850's are not very condusive to widespread snow, so for all you peeps up in the hilly parts, enjoy it whilst it lasts, because rain is on the way!

Thanks a lot, I was looking for that for ages last night.

Still looks like we should see a bit snow, not sure if it'll settle though.

snowing quite hard here and has been for the last hour or so.

starting to stick, but very wet and can imagine it turning back to rain before long

that said though the temperature has actually dropped from 3'c at 7pm to 1'c now.

still, its the first of what hopefully will be many snowy episodes during the next few months.

Ian

Sleety rain here too, which is a bit disappointing given I have a dew point of -1.0c and temp of 1.5c
