Will be very interesting to see how low temps go tonight, the GFS really doesn't go that low as it brings in increasing amounts of cloud into the east and spreads it across most of the country by morning. The Sat.imagery does show quite a bit of cloud in the North Sea but temps may drop well enough in some spots before the cloud rolls in for air frost I'd have thought.

Lol @ GFS

Upgrade for Wednesday but unless you want to get an EasyJet flight to Palma (Majorca) to see Snow it is having none of the ECM/UKMO For a Biting North Easterly for Thurs/Fri

GFS Still wanting to shift the Cold Air through France and Spain and the Balearics

The GFS has certainly showing the winds from the ENE, and the winds appear to be lighter than the last run

Certainly if we get any precipitation in Falkirk it will be of Snow ! Daylight temperatures here have been subzero with thick hill fog and my recorded temperatures have been less than 3C for the last 70hrs.

Keeping fingers crossed for a very cold spell followed by plenty of the white stuff since we didn't get any substantial snow last winter.

This run is marginally better than the 06z, but not good enough in terms of following the ecm. I expect to see the ecm backtrack later but hope im wrong.

which defies logic because the last two runs have seen the GFS tend towards the ECM NOT the other way round. So far this one is very much tending more to the ECM evolution, and I would imagine it to continue to do so over next couple of runs smile.gif

Wednesday looks interesting for us especially. The next blast from the North comes in much quicker on this run too.

Milder surface air with this shortwave/lp to start with.

Although temps seem quite low.

Max of 5c again now alot of cloud coming in, seems less cold with a light north wind now.

Small steps need to be taken with the charts from now on GFS has backtracked to what it was

showing which is something.

12z showing the northerly by Saturday evening possibly giving snow to most areas

Lets hope it stays that way too. I think western areas could actually do good out of this spell which wasnt expected at first from what seemed a weak easterly event.

Seemed the Snow Dance worked, a better run for western regions.

Clouds building here now, so no frost, but its bitter in that wind again. (OK not Finland bitter, but English Riviera bitter)

That the advertisers pay more?

They went up to Friday earlier so I guess it would be down to time constraints. Interview over-run something like that.

You better believe it! Freezing fog now, vis down to 50m and everything iced over. 4th day in a row now I haven't seen a distance of more than 800m. Localised for sure.

Thanks Mondy !

I'm at 394' elevation and we did briefly see the sun today but it did not impact temperatures.

High temp for today was 0.9C at midnight and -0.1C during daylight hours.

Current temp -1.6C and falling.

Ice and Fog with visibility between 30-50m in places
