If we're still not that convinced that cold is not far away - the media are forecasting max and mins of 3° | -4° Monday and 2° | -6° Tuesday here in northern Holland.

Next stop Blighty!

If the ECM pulls off and after this Easterly a notherly/north western airflow is established, then some frontal snow is possible, like Easter 08 for example:

In theory yes but that depends on the airflow and the temperature, If the airflow is more of an northerly than it is unlikely any snow will fall, but if the flow is more of a cold north westerly, then you have more of a chance of a covering, most likely by showers the ECM charts can easily still change though

GFS 12z run starts in about 20 mins by the way

Looks like the colder air is digging down quite nicely now with more and more reports of sleet and general wintryness. Showers should start to weaken soon as we reach the eveing hours and the sun goes down but could get some decent wintry showers still over the next hour or two. I'm heading back to Essex from Chichester soon, may take a detour to the downs to see whether anything comes down as snow on the higher ground.

These showers should prove people have nothing to be worried about when it comes to showers coming in from the North Sea, as conditions will be even more condusive providing we do get that easterly in the first place!

Best bet for the west country is as ever, when a breakdown comes and we get a battleground situation, with hopefully the cold air winning out... from an IMBY pov I'd prefer that to be over Dartmoor, I mean, we get the rain all year, so its only fair we get the snow to right?! :D

Some strong convective showers now lining the Easterly Coasts and making their way inland relatively intact, keeping a eye on the NW Radar to see just how far inland they make it before dissipating. The showers only south of Cambridge have anything with a wintry mix in them so-far though.

I totaly agree matt. Us west country hill folk deserve a snowy pasting!

Unlikely we shall see a battleground event with cold winning. even if cold wins the odds are that front pushes too far up country turning snow back to rain and then clearing with cold after. wallbash.gif

I'll do snow dance also. yahoo.gifyahoo.gifyahoo.gifyahoo.gif

All of the several showers that have hit here in Northampton (NN3) have all been rain, feeling much chillier here today max temp of 5c

I'd be very shocked if that was true? 30-40cm of snow was some of the higher totals received in the more favoured areas for snow during the February cold spell. The most that was seen in the North West was just a few inches I think.

Half a foot on the pavements, 1 foot on the grass. You couldn't tell the difference from roads, paths and grass.

Also, if I hear this year 'snow to the north of the M4 corridor' I am going to insist they re-build it from Torbay to Dover (thus I shall be north of it)

Temperature really is starting to shift now. It's done 1.2c in half an hour.

If any precip moves in tonight, it will be wintry.

5.0c atm.

Yep, a real pasting round these parts on the evening of the 2nd.

We missed out from then onwards though, the only subsequent fresh lying snowfall being on the morning of the 5th (when there was barely half an inch).
