Karyo

Get your friend to check with the airline as i said airport shut no indications on what time

It will re-open ATM Long delays i love the Snow but this is giving me serious probs ATM

This afternoon menat to get worse if this continues like this i can see 6 inches easily by early

Evening

C.S

Thank you mate, I'll inform him!

The size of the snow flakes is unbelievable! The radar is looking rther lively and a streamer has formed!

Also a band of showers that left northern Ireland earlier should affect many parts soon.

Hi , The freezing level is lower and the convective cells that produce the snow showers produce a downdraft of cold air. Although the temperature atlowest layers may have been warmed by the sun it will not stop the snow from melting. Yesterday evening had a layer of warmer air embedded in the flow that produced the rain and sleet. Today you are in the unstable cold sector.Hope this helps a little.

Thanks

Yes, same here now too. I can see this being more widespread as the day goes one. Settling with ease too.

Basically more of the same all day. There will be periods of light snow, but when the heavier showers come along, it will top up the accumulations. The BBC forcast had the showers affecting parts of the North West going all into miday tomorrow. Although I expect there might be a easing from the Southern parts of the region overnight.

Belting down here

Enough for a snow man

How long is this spell due? Missed BBC

I can remember back in time that this kind of set up, particularly with todays wind flow produces the best snowfalls for North Cheshire and South Lancs. Could be on for a major snowfall in the area overnight as the instability in the cold air mass will continue. Anyone got pictures ?

Judging by the graphic looks like every wehere from the mersey estry - spelt wrong, east to the pennines and upto preston has a white blob sat on it from about miday till tonight. I say looks because im in work and looked at it from distance. then tomorrow we have more snow. Heard the forcaster say 10-15 cm with 20cm on higher ground.

Definately a Winter Wonderland out there now.

Just done a scout round the M60/M62 traffic cams and most of them are now affected by snow. Any last minute shoppers could be stuck in traffic coming home. I was yesterday, and it wasn't even snowing lol

Whats the crack with wind for today ? its just starting to pick up a little (pure westerly) and blowing the settled snow about... Drifting is not out of the question here. Can this rival febs snow with about 4-5 inch laying and drifts upto 4 ft ?

Hope I dont have to go in work tonight lol.
