Radar shows a lot of other areas in land getting rain also so I guess I shouldn't be too upset.

We had a short spell of snow here, but it was rain before and after the heaviest precipitation hit so made the ground pretty wet and left a slushy mess.

Not looking forward to it refreezing as it'll be a nightmare getting home from work in the morning.

The latest image shows another narrow band of PPN intensifying big time, and it's heading straight for me :yahoo:

Light Snow here now. And it's done what this mornings heavier snow couldn't do. Settle.

The snow this morning settled here. We were on our way home from town at 1100 and I would say the 'settling' height was 300m on Kirkedge road.

I think the marginality arises from the fact that most of this convection was formed over this side of the North Sea where SSTs are a tad higher.

Where as the northern areas of the North Sea would appear to have lower SSTs - which would explain why them scattered showers currently coming down are snow-bearing. In other words the convection is over colder seas.

Looking forward to the coming few days, especially the easterly and very cold uppers, perfect ingredients for super convective showers :) and i mean tonnes of snow showers penetrating inland.

I'm 100% sure?? Why , ask me

Because the difference in upper 850 temps and SST's are fantastic, the greater difference in Sea surface temps and upper 850 temps the more intense the showers will be and convection is fantastic.

Also the tighter the flow the better, as it means the showers don't loose their intensity as they hit the coast, meaning they will penetrate inland much easier.

And greater chance of snow in coastal locations?

In this scenario when you get a much tighter flow, such cold upper 850's, nothing marginal at all, you would rather be on the coast than inland, even though inland areas still do very very well. :nonono:
