As I said yesterday Orographic lifting is coming into place on the eastern upslopes of the peninnes. Things could become very interesting :)

Now stopped again looking like favoured areas are to the north of us.

Would Halifax be classed as Eastern upslopes of Pennines? Moderate snow for at least half an hour here.

Just had 20 minutes of fairly heavy snow, a bit lighter now but blowing in a brisk wind, it's certainly heading towards you according to the radar

cheers Kev

still coming down fairly hard here although the flakes seem smaller.

the wind has got up a little and the snow is being blown about.

the main road near to my house is covered in snow although not helped by the lack of gritting currently taking place

definately not a good night to be out and about.

Yeah thats why even with it snowing on and off its lost that edge now because you knowits getting washed away. Well it was great while it lasted and got some good pics, lets see when or if the next snow event comes in, would like 1 more good snow event before this winters out!:)

It will snow soon, don't worry, the dew point is rising but temps are dropping, in due course the dew points will start dropping when the dews catch up with the temps.

Use this weather station if you want, it is in Leeds at 60m and is very accurate http://www.wunderground.com/weatherstation/WXDailyHistory.asp?ID=IWESTYOR8

Well you are correct, it has turned back to snow and is now moderate. Wasn't too shocked to see snow falling again but what did shock me is that it is just starting to settle on the slush covered road. Intensity will have to keep up or the temp will have to drop below freezing to avoid a slushy Monday morning. Lukily for me though I aint back at work until Wednesday.

I think it may just appear sleety as the ppn is very very light now. It is marginal but i'm only at 190m and the temp is 0.1 and the dew is -0.6 so should bs supportive of snow and no melting.

Fast falling but 2/3mm sized flakes here for the past 20-30 minutes, looks like its going to be a interesting night. Already looks like close to a cm of new snow going on the car treads outside our farm.
