Steady rain/sleet becoming slightly heavier in the last 10mins or so, temps dropping very slowly.

Max of 1.2c here, with light snowfall on and off when i was in Leeds center. Not much thaw to speak of, apart from the usual places, bins plants etc. The ground temps are lower than the air temps so a thaw on the ground shouldn't be an issue.

About tonight I don't really know what will happen, there could be some surprises, but not the good kind either. As expected the east has a wintry mixture, this should have been expected really, especially if you've been on Net Weather last Feb. Tonight reminds me of Feb 2nd/3rd, we got 10cm of snow from 11 hours of continous light-moderate snowfall, that too was forecast to be heavier (50cm forecast for the hills), that too was downgrade and eastern areas received rain.

Instead of talking about the "East" and past all the time, concentrate on the bigger picture.

The precipitation is light and patchy, with increasing temps and dew point will result in mainly sleet/rain accept for higher ground.

Places in the SE now reporting sleet and rain..

There is no "event" no 10-15cm...

Big flakes now biggrin.gif Certainly not sleet over here. Been snizzle when its really light but other than that its been snow with a dew point remaining at 0.0c or below, recently got up to 0.1c though! I'm quite far in land though at 100m asl. I suspect higher ground to my west will do quite well smile.gif

Well i can report thawing snow tbh and quite a bit, some hedges are totally snowless now!:drunk:

Just got back from walking the dog and I have to say its horrible out there! Not been out all day so the feel of the wind was a shock to the system.

First shower of the day in this part of Leeds and it was snow but the flakes were on the small side. Still a good depth up on the park so not as much has melted as I earlier thought.

Craig.

Snowing here and trying to make a cover. However rising dew points making it more and more marginal.

Quite an impressive drop in snow level may have lost 4 or 5cm today which is surprising considering the temps weren't that high and the dew point smostly well below zero.

It snowed here earlier for about an hour, only very light flakes - mainly floating around on the light breeze and definitely not settling. Snow melted quite extensively today. Snow that was forecast for here doesn't seem to be materializing. Am I being too downhearted or should I keep the faith and expect some more later?

I have to talk about the east in these kind of situation because when I say east I mean Eastern Parts of Yorkshire, and it is east Yorkshire that are getting the wintry mixture. Also It is important to talk about past events, because when winds come of the north sea it has always brought rain to areas York eastwards, If we had looked at past events we would have seen this would not have delivered for many areas.

Anyway, light-moderate snow for past 40 minutes, temps are dropping nicely, now 0.6c, when the precipitation arrived the temp was 1.1c.
