Wel despit learning something about dew points, 850's, 528 dam, continental air mass modification and warm sectors (and many thanks to all for your answers) I have a new theory about snow - Spend 2+ back-breaking hours cleaning the drive of 6-7 inches of snow and there will surely be snow. And there has been - nearly another 1 cm of fluffy snow with more on the way by the looks of Rain Today!

Something I've not really understood today is how it has snowed on and off whilst the snow on the ground has been melting (I'd say a good 40% of lying snow has gone).

I would have thought if its cold enough to snow it shouldn't melt but clearly not

Sure it's not just heat trapping near your house? Have you checked the local park ? When temps hover around freezing, they could be as high as two degrees next to centrally heated buildings...

Pretty much due East. Through Central and then into West Kent. Currently the band = Faversham south to about Ashford?

I think London will get this band- especially the S E & south side-

However no settling apart from the hillier regions etc outside of london ( UHI effect)
