I know it's in the low res part of the run but this must be the 6 -7 time this has occurred and GFS is very very good at spotting trends this far out

Looks good Andy. I'd believe it if it were for this Wednesday though!

post-10324-12648056377088_thumb.jpghehe just noticed something on the radar

A covering on all surfaces here now (apart from directly outside house), about 1-2cm here now. Further heavy snow showers are set to come in the next few hours.

One thing slightly against us is that the ground temps are higher than they have been, which is making the settling of any snow harder than it might otherwise be.

Slight dusting here, about 1cm on the grass. That chart looks good!

Very pretty indeed !

Something to keep an eye on if nothing else.

Would be nice to have some mega cold, max day temps no higher than -5 (this would be mega for here anyway).

Indeed, only one air frost in the last 2 weeks, and no really cold weather either of late.

Andy - could you clarify for those of us (me at least) who are not so experienced at these things what you are seeing here - to me this extreme low temperature zone is to the North West of Britain. If the current winds are North Westerly won't that push this front away from Wales? What are you seeing here that tells you this is pushing West?

Go lampost go lampost go lampost!!

Am opening a new pack of hob nobs, and getting the tea on for the lampost.

Feed your lampost and it will deliver.

I still can not understand how so much snow can exist in one lampost lamp?

Perhaps its like a portal to some snow universe?

I nominate my lampost for lampost of the year (wales regional finals).

The chart I posted on here is only one of many of a series of charts which when put together you can see the movement of low and high pressures etc. I just wanted to illustrate that that sort of cold (purple colouration) hasn't been seen near britain in a very long time

There's a huge high pressure also to the north of russia and so everything is moving east to west beneath it!
