Ah, of course...

As long as you're not planning on selling ice-cream to the eskimo's biggrin.gif

No, they will be too busy organising the kiddie's snow elephant rides and feeding the ice dolphins, for minimum wage of course. Got to keep the theme going. :D

They will be fine, I will make sure they are well taken care of, give them time off to watch Emmerdale and feed them 3 pot noodles a day. They won't need work visas either as they will only be here for 3 days tops judging by our previous snowy winters. biggrin.gif

I am going to bed now before a nasty mod comes in and tells me off. whistling.gif

Thats good to know...!

Three days tops?... This is the South West... We're famous for our long, cold, snowy spells of winter weather

Good night then... I suppose I should do the same!... Why can't work start at a more agreeable time of day, say 10:30 :D

Still finishing at 17:30 though, of course!

Night all... Have fun in the rain tomorrow/Thursday/Friday...

Tsk!

But at least it will be mild! whistling.gif

LOL> Great minds...

Tsk!

Evening Matt,

Surely there will be some good swell at sea for the surfing then with all the rain. I dont know if you have ever gone on Metcheck (prob a swear word on hear) and look into next week say for Bristol my area, and they are showing the cold is still with us till at least the 10th March, sleet and snow showing for all of that week, and no sign of any mild temps.

2-3ft at Polzeath, not exactly ground breaking, but since I can't get anytime to go at the mo its not all bad :)

metcheck ... tsk!

STEVE - interesting that you say light rain.

Overcast and occasional drizzle here in Poole, but watching the MetO Radar the rain should be with us at about 14:00 to 15:00. Not clear about the actual radar image however - shows a long but narrow strip of whiote just behind the leading edge (torrential?) but no red. I wonder if this is in fact white (no rain!)

Metcheck seems to think the rain will be heavy.

Some good breaks in the cloud this morning and this has caused the temperature to respond, I have hit 11.5C today so far, my first double digit temp since the 9th of December - spring has sprung!

Sunny here at the moment (was raining (fairly light) 10 minutes ago).

Not sure of the temperature, but it's definately alot warmer than it was yesterday!

Radar image now much clearer - looking like light to moderate for Dorset and heavier on the southeastern end of the frontal cloud, tracking towards Hants / Sussex/Kent. This aligns much more closely with the MetO warnings.

Rain, rain, rain, did I mention rain?

Although at the gym before work the sun was shining. Or perhaps that was just stars...

Looks like the max was 6.1C today, which is somewhat lower than yesterdays 7.3C at 4.30pm of all times.

Spoke to a friend last night who has moved to Canada and reckoned that they had had a freak snowless winter.

Disgustingly mild today where I went to the southeast, car was reading 10-11C with sunshine and showers. Somewhat greyer and murkier here in the west and after a low of 1.9C last night, the mercury soared to 9.6C, equal with the highest so far this year on Friday 5th.

I'm somewhat disappointed with the lack of snow in the forecast for us at the moment considering how many missed opportunities we've had and it now look like after a wild first day of March, high pressure's going to get in the way for up to 10 days! Very little to get excited about at the moment on the current model runs.

I'd take high pressure, so long as it was a sunny one rather than a cloudy one!

I can't stand this rain, just grey, damp and bleugh out. I stop looking for snow around about now anyway, so warm sunshine all the way please!

Same here Matt lets look forward to some sunshine, not bad here today temps be between 9-11C and only the odd shower of rain.

Oh yes I entirely agree, this grey, dampness is horrible. But that's what I mean, despite low pressure, the weather has been calm and samey for ages, we need some tightening isobars on a NW-SE angle to turn increasingly N-S to bring some excitement. Or alternatively, a pattern like the second week of this Feb with the high much further north, if that would still deliver.

I just feel like we need some exciting weather before everything calms down and becomes boring as we know how long anticyclones can last.

Are we looking at a potentially damaging storm on Sunday?
