ahhh yeah true, the blue line is the one that records tremors ( or really low hertz) that is coming usually from deep in the earth, so I would be inclined to think the belly of Gaia is definately stirring!! or at last has indigetion! hahaha!! The latest tremor is recorded about 10 km down and is 90%, so I wouldnt reckon that would be from outside interference, although I could be super wrong!!

Thanks for that info Crimson, I am afraid I don't know much about what each of the tremor lines mean but the rise in the lowest was interesting and your info has made it doubly so.

been a flurry of activity over Vatna area, as well as Reykjanes ridge lately. hmmm..huh.gif So far since 6am over Vatna, as well as Reykjanes, there has been a swarm of earthquakes. Wonder of there is a volcano near Reykjanes?

that vatna glacier has the volcano Grimsvotn under it which is showing signs of unrest, I didnt know which volcano it was. hekla is showing signs of stirring to... interesting read on this article as it coincides with some of the tremor activity showing lately http://www.pollstar.com/blogs/news/archive/2010/05/24/724380.aspx

Helka only gives a few hours warning before eruptions otherwise it's a strange volcano with little seismic activity.

Would that be the cluster of earthquakes to the west that are showing up for Locations of earthquakes in Hengill area for the last 48 hours.

I have found a map of the volcanos in Iceland and I think the earthquakes appear to be near Brennisteinfjoll but that hasn't erupted since the 14th century

That blue line has risen dramatically in the last 5 hours!!! Definitely nothing to do with wind or wave noise!

Really dramatic picture on Hvolsvelli cam now. http://eldgos.mila.is/eyjafjallajokull-fra-hvolsvelli/

In perspective to this chart it's hardly noticeable though.         http://hraun.vedur.i...9/gosplott.html

It is showing it is now commensurate to the height at the end of the active eruption, which it hasn't been now for 11 days.

That is the reason I am so interested in this sudden rise as it could signal Eyjafjall is ready to erupt again albeit at a much lower rate than the initial eruption.

It is those two lower tremor lines that I think are significant now as even when there were still earthquake swarms happening these charts weren't rising to this extent, even admitting it is an extremely low tremor compared to the start but not to the ending.

With regard to the chart you posted nightfire, try zooming in to the maximum extent and hopefully you can see what I am waffling about above.

I know what you mean, but I'm just asking myself if this is out of the normal fluctuations. If we just could look back a little more.

Ah if only! :good: Still it is the not being sure makes it more interesting for me. Eyja does seem to be struggling now to hold that higher level of tremor so perhaps this is as good as it is going to get for a while.

Again, if only, we could see through cloud! :(

The dust does seem to be dropping out of the cloud a bit now though so perhaps the Thorolfsfelli cam will soon show us if anything different is happening.

Plume showing now on the Thorolfsfelli cam but due to the lens being filthy with ash it is difficult to tell if it is steam or steam and ash combined.

Edit 22:37pm

Definitely higher plume than before and it does appear to have ash mixed in with the steam.

22:50 Much more ash now unless perhaps it is just the wind lifting it into the air but I would have thought it was a bit too high for that. No watching on the Mila cam it is definitely rising in the same spot each time. Visible on Mulakot cam too.

Problem with the infrared is that it is a couple of minutes behind for starters. Also at the moment it is just picking up heat from the clouds and the mountain. perhaps later it will show heat in the eruption plume. Nice to see someone other than me has noticed she is erupting again!

On the Eruption blog they are waffling on about loads of other volcanos (which admittedly are probably much more important as a lot of poor people in Guatamala are missing presumed dead.) but they don't seem to have noticed what Eyja is doing.

Ah well, it is late now and I have to be up early tomorrow to drive to Bath to collect a son and his belongings from Uni, so off to bed.

Plume looks to be getting larger and better formed to me, although it's difficult to be sure because of the clouds (plus I'm no expert!). It's definitely much higher than it's been the last few days. Couple of quakes this morning too.

hello all! btw where is everyone?

Well this one was away all day driving in atrocious weather down to Bath and back. Shattered now, starting to realise why women retire at 60! :(

Anyway I have a lot of catching up to do and the cams at the moment don't want to be helpful. I was disappointed this morning that the ash plume had gone but another earthquake this evening, 2.1 and bang on target so i wont give up hope of a repeat just yet, The tremor is also maintaining a higher rate but overall is low.

Latest status report. http://en.vedur.is/m...-01_IES_IMO.pdf

No mention of last night's ash plume, looks like only me and loopydreamer saw it. We weren't dreaming though, it was definitely there!

Isn't the HVO chart aimed at Katla? In that case she's might have had a bad dream.

Don't know if this came up before, but in case it didn't......every link you could dream of.

Pretty clear this morning and not a bad view. Looks like steam right now. No quakes.

The Lull continues could go for months like before the next eruption or it could be over. Tremor is still above pre-eruption levels and the volcano is neither inflating or deflating at the minute.

Nice size steam plume going up at the moment. http://www.flir.com/.../data/?id=30533

Now showing what looks like ash and steam mixed in plume.

Now plume is occassionaly showing on Hvolsvelli cam too. Nice to get a clearer view for a change.

Hope all goes well with the move loopy. Kent gets more snow than me, don't like that. :nonono: You are just like my son, computer gets packed last!

I also have an obsession with this volcano and my hubby thinks he is a volcano widower. :)
