Drizzle and low cloud earlier but the sunshine has returned, some towering clouds to the north but no "heavy" rain or thunder yet, which was forecast to spread in this afternoon.

A lot of greyness moving in from the west now but doesn't look threatening enough to be heavy or thundery, will have to see. The wind's picking up a lot now and it actually feels cool.

It seems to be the CF that has the worst weather at the moment that rain over NI sinking south into wales doesn't look to bad at the moment

Heaviest shower is that now over NE Brum, heading towards Atherstone and probably just NW of Leicester. Lighter showers in the Solihull area.

Very quiet and still outside so it seems like something will happen but will the shield stop it.

That's quite interesting, actually, because the clouds here do not really look too dark or threatening (although a little darker to the North), yet it has been hammering down with rain now.

It is very still isn't it! It's slowly making its way here, but there haven't been many, if any, reports of electrification within the massive clump of rain soon to hit us. No weakening though, which is encouraging.

Holy crap! Flash and deep rumble about two miles away to my SW!

It does look like a nasty cell on the raintoday radar  :wallbash:

Rain is now becoming more moderate here. I doubt we're going to get any thunder though, unless it electrifies.

Rain getting noticeably heavier now.

Well the rain has just started and although it's currently light, the drops are pretty big and really gusty winds so fingers crossed.

I do like the sound of that cell around Birmingham. Really hoping for something down here for once.

Good luck for you.

Seems like that heavier area of rain to the West is getting closer to the Bristol area (according to the radar). :wallbash:

Interesting that Helen Willets is going on about storms right now when my Detector isn't picking anything up backup up by netweather. Some rain now beginning to fall but the skies don't really look that threatening although looks can be deceiving.

Yep it's basically right on my doorstep now, moderate rain falling and skies rather dark. Thunder looks unlikely but I'll keep listening! I'll keep you updated here  :wallbash:

Heard all this before from the BBC and their definition of nasty is probably just the intense rainfall

Another cluster of heavy showers now arriving in Birmgham and Black Country, wonder if they will intensify over the city?

A few scattered showers surviving and gathering across the irish sea at the moment, just hitting western Wales now, these should continue to track across mid wales in particular.
