To be consistent I have posted the charts for Friday, even though it is more than clear that no northerly will happen.

Well guys that's it, we have (almost) (will have if you are reading this on the 1st of March), finished winter and Meterlogical Spring starts on the 1st of March. Firstly may I say a massive congratulations to Tonyh for keeping this forum in order and congratulations on becoming purple! Secondly I would like to thank our chief ramper Andymusic for keeping people up to date and for being so enthusastic about the amount of snow etc. Keithlucky and Adamjones for providing some fantastic support and keeping people up-to-date and also for helping out beginners and amaturs (like my self) up-to-date. I would also like to give my special thanks to Jackone for coming up with his summarys and for helping people to understand what is being said in various posts. I would also like to thank Paul for giving us the oppotunity to discuss Wales' weather, and lastly I would like to thank everyone on here for being amazing (as you always are).

Thank you

Snowmadsam

I have always wanted to leave a forum post on a cliffhanger so here it is (it may be rubbish but still) The season of Winter may have gone but winter is like a scorpion it has a sting in its tale and it can come back at whatver time ok now queue eastenders duff duff *duff duff*.

Thanks for the nice comments and well earned thanks in there for many. Well done indeed to TonyH for keeping the forum in check, especially during the first half of the winter. For the second half of the winter me and Tony have been sharing out the clearing of the tumble weed, it has been so quiet.

There is no doubt that the 2nd half of winter has been disappointing, especially February. As good as December was, I think it would have been better to had have half of that cold spell then and half later in the season when it would have been appreciated more.

Thanks for that snowmadsman - but like you said - winter may still have a slight northerly sting in the tail - GFS showing a northerly now for sometime and it's starting to come into high res on the model - duff, duff, duff, duff, duff!

Sorry about not including the shocked face :shok: - is that better

Seems the ECM is also backing up the GFS and coming round to it's way of thinking, it's slightly further west on the ECM, but this is still early days on this potential northerly - we may have something to discuss then shortly - after such a barren Jan & Feb :cold:

Is it me or have the seasons reverted back to old traditional setups for the time being i.e

December, January, February - Winter

March, April May - Spring

June, July, August - Summer

September, October, November - Autumn

Maybe we will see a much higher risk of a White traditional christmas period over the next few years?

Very large diurnal range of 17c today, from severe frost and -6.8c to a rather mild 10.4c in unbroken sunshine. Glorious weather, sunny every day this week so far!

Clear, already down to 2c with a ground frost forming.

What a cracking week this has been! Winter and Spring in a day every day, that's from hard frosts to unbroken sunshine each day.

Very interesting and appreciation worthy.

GFS is still keen on a brief colder shot next Wed/ Thursday, so briefly a chance of Wintry showers with that north-west flow over Wales:

Much less impressive in UKMO though:

Looking pretty promising for heavy wintry showers overnight wednesday thursday night ,lets hope the heaviest showers occur overnight because the strength of the sun during the day will melt the snow quickly.

Another nice day. Sunny periods feeling quite mild. All but yesterday sunny out of the last week. In spite of this, March has been cold so far due to the frequent hard frosts.

Countryfile keeps the cold air to the north with virtually no chance of anything wintry in Wales this week. A fine start to the week, cloudier with rain at times Wednesday onwards with maxes 8 to 11c which is close to average.
