Aye 7/10 for the past week, although the only showers in the whole of NI seemed to have passed over my house today.

ATM it looks like things will improve for next week and it should feel more like summer.

big improvement today, blue sky and some sunshine yippee!!

Bloody awful day on the east coast today, rained non stop (pretty much) for the full extent of daylight hours. Chilly too, never got above 15 degrees.

Looking forward to the ECM/GFS/UKMO promised warm-up next week!

Very warm night in Cork, minimum just 17.3C!

Hows about a little in house competition for the coming Autumn/Winter in Ireland?

Could try stuff like date and location for the first sub 0C/-5C/-10C minimum, first sub 5C maximum, first ice day, first snowfall and settled snow, things like that?

The competition in just an idea for now, so feel free to add a few ideas or markers we could guess on the way into Autumn. Won't start compiling the guesses and stuff for a while yet

I'm guessing it's best to use the official Met Eireann data? And individual stations rather than the IMT?

What would thoughts be on having it as a points system with and overall winner at the end of winter?

-1.1c between 24th to 29th September, Castlerea, County Roscommon.

That's my hunch for Ireland. the first cold spell of the autumn. :D

Actually I think we will get quite low temps in late August as well, possibly 2 to 4c with a light grass frost, in the night time of course.

Keep 'em coming!

A few more to add, will probably chop and change these as we go along.

First day with every station below 10C.

First night with every station below 0C.

Halloween Max and Min.

Christmas Max and Min.

Was also thinking maybe we could do separate comps for individual months, as more people will probably return to the forum again as we get closer to winter.

We will have to use weather stations in the North as well such as Castlederg so will probably have to use Met Office Data to make it all inclusive :whistling:

Another one - location for most days with lying snow - I bags Pomeroy Co.Tyrone straight away
