A few showers are now setting off in the Home Counties, I would expect these to develop readily and drift westwards

Developing pretty quickly now, bright echoes now showing on the radar.

The storms over France could perform a kent clipper later, its fairly unusual to get clipped from E-S-E...

Could be interesting!

UKMO Meso has a more organised band of perhaps thundery rain hitting the south coast sometime late tonight!, however south east could still get a clipper Copyright@ :D

Sun breaking through the haze with blue sky here much better than earlier

http://www.sat24.nl/nl

Looks as if IOW could be in the firing line later going by those storms coming through north east france, that's some development across europe though :)

Cell headed right for us - can't believe just how quickly this thing has developed. Quite continuous thunder but not yet witnessed any lightning - could be C-C as it's very hazy therefore making it tricky to see.

Good start!

They certainly are!.....I was concerned at first when I looked at the wind profiles...They didn't look to be much directional shear, but looking at the actual wind speeds at various height profiles, it shouldn't be too much of a problem, there's enough velocity in the vertical shear for new updraughts for any given thunderstorm to blossom

Not by any means conclusive, but none the less, a useful step in the right direction:

Just to add, along the M5 corridor (Bristol to Birmingham) looks to be a likely area for thunderstorms to drift into during the next 3 or so hours.....Too far south for me, but good for quite a few members on here! :)

like the member below, for instance!.....:whistling:

Not much happening here in the caravan. Still grey cloud around.Need the sun to come out more. The cows in the field next to us are whipping their tails which according to old weather lore usually means an indication of a storm Lol.:whistling::lol:

Ongoing large storm in MK, formed in minutes. Large convective sporadic rainfall and bright IC and some huge CG's. Im guessing a couple were +CG they shook the building.

It seems to be looking better now, temp 19.4C and through breaks in the clouds I can see the clouds are rising, are the chances of storms likely to decrease once the sun sets?

That storm appeared in like 30 minutes..

The speed of the convection is quite/very impressive!

Keep your eye on the Rain/Thunder band in Saint-Quentin/Amiens area of NE France, that looks like it's heading our way unless it fizzles out or the wind changes direction, so it could be stormy later on!:good:

Storms developing in a half decent CAPE environment, 300-600 by the looks of things with some shear too. Should be good storms for any that catch them, hoping a few more lines will pop up.

Storms moved off towards Buckingham / Oxford area now, Can still hear the thunder in the distance. Sky to my East & North East is again becoming extremly dark. I think there are more storms forming in the area.
