Sky looking rather dark and menacing to my west here in Croydon, think I may get swiped by the cell over SW London B)

I hope if there is a storm today it doesn't happen until I get home from work at around 5pm. I'm stuck inside all day.

Same here - I am working in the London Bridge area today, so will be relying on anyone working/living close by to give any heads up to any storms outside. I do wish I had a window in this office here

That cell SW of London looks like it could be a nice little boomer. Anyone know if its gone electric yet?

Just heard a rumble but didnt see any lightning.

Looking okay for SW at the moment, may see some torrential downpours by afternoon from daytime sun heating

VERY dark here now...skies looking angry and very turbulent. Saw some minute areas of rotation along the base as it's approaching...rain starting to fall now...thought I heard a rumble a few minutes ago but resigned myself to the fact it was one of the larger chaps moving their chairs upstairs lol

Meanwhile Norwich has what looks like a batch of persistent frontal type rain- it may be that this will be what keeps Norwich convection-free today, though there is plenty of time for it to clear away.

Friend who works in the same Hospital as me (and is lucky enough to have a window) has reported thunder in the London Bridge area.

Indeed - it was a very close CG and loud crash of thunder! (SE1)

That's two so far now...torrential rain and gusty winds now :yahoo:

That rain hasn't quite reached here yet, but yes, does look frontal in nature. Just looked at the Euro radar and there looks as though this is being spawned by something in the Southern North sea

Do you think we're likely to get a second batch later?

Can confirm thunder too from dark skies to my north towards central London, just getting the southern edge of the more intense stuff here.

Lovely here in Bristol today! Lots of warm pleasant sunshine, just a few bubbles of cloud around! Certainly nothing stormy or even showery occuring around here!

A very nice day indeed!
