Nasty weather in Romford at the moment according to family, however for me it would probably be interesting :p

How long till the heavy stuff hits us. It's started raining again here, but it's not heavy yet.

43mph at Birmingham airport? Not bad should get some stronger gusts later. Can I ask why the weather presenters in BBC are saying strong gusts on the eastern side of pennines? Wouldn't they be protected by the pennines?

Wind flow over high ground can be complicated and some areas in the lee of hills can be sheltered but the hills also cause increased turbulence which brings the higher wind speeds aloft closer to the ground giving strong gusts.

Can see it approaching from my window now.

Here now.

Some dogwalkers in the field have just got soaked to the bone.

Can see quite a heavy shower to my West. Should be with me in 20 minutes or so. Really hoping the hills and mountains in North Wales don't drain its intensity. It's looking potentially thundery too.

Not to mention it should bring to hefty gusts with it.

God damn it. Looks like it's going to miss me by 10 miles to my South... Chester will bear the brunt of it. Oh well, now I can go fishing. :)

You had a couple of inches in August don't be greedyacute.gif

Bog standard wet and windy night, followed by a windy but drier day over in Wales.

Only 17mm rain yesterday, so still have not topped an inch in a day since January- most unusual.

Had a drive out earlier 1.30pm, could see the developing squall line to the N.W. With small cells moving from left to right, alot of ragged lowerings, no thunder, watched the line shift south east, very heavy rain at 3.45pm wipers on max speed had to slow to 20mph, nice view as the line cleared away, a good show , not as good as 25th Nov 2006 though.

Well been offline all day and it was certainly giving it some in Reading. Plenty of good gusts. Spoke to someone in Brighton and checked the argus newspaper which made me larf...headline was along the lines of winds of tornado speed to hit Sussex. Well apparently it was windy but the argus had slightly over exaggerated - hmm maybe they thought it was Hurricane Irene.

Anyway tonight the sky to the south of Newbury did go an amazing colour although I suspect the view was far different to those directly underneath it..;(
