Very gusty here overnight and thismorning! Combined with the rain, I wish I could stay indoors today!

Expecting Westerly gales later this afternoon and evening as the main depression tracks over Northern UK.

Meto have mean speeds 35-40mph here with gusts 55-60mph, westerly veering Nw'ly later.

Nothing special here. Just a bit wet and a bit windy really. 2.4mm of rain and a top gust so far of 30mph. I'm not that surprised though as I didn't expect it to be much here.

We had 40mph gusts here in June which were the highest of the year.

To be honest in this case don't blame the MetO for not issuing warnings, as away from exposed coastal spots the wind isn't reaching their criteria of 60ph or is it 70mph? gusts (will probably get stronger than it is now for the SE though), and away from western hills the rainfall accumulations aren't special. Maybe they could have issued a warning for western hills and later the SE for wind I guess.

Though perhaps their warning criteria are too high at this time of year?

Mean wind speed of 32 mph, but a gust of 48 mph so far. Luckily it's low tide here at the moment

Windy! Rain hasn't been so bad, but the wind woke me up a few times last night, will be interesting to see if conditions differ in Southampton. I have a feeling it'll be a sad day for brollies!

I'm surprised the Meto didn't issue any warnings, look at the intensity of the rainfall that has crossed/crossing the uk.

Have to say I am surprised there isn't even a mention of it, it's blowing a hooley out there already!

There are currently no warnings for London & South East England on 06 Sep 2011

Headline:

Rain easing to scattered showers. Strong winds, locally gale-force.

Today:

Wet and windy weather will continue eastwards through the morning, rain clearing to scattered blustery showers by the afternoon. However, more persistent rain may linger across parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland. Gales developing in places.

Just look at the live data and locations, you can see where it is and where it's going geographically without a chart:

Coast..When are the winds going to peak??

Now onwards I think, should be over the South East and East soon:

Surprised to see Birmingham and Brize Norton so gusty despite their inland location

A disappointing 2mm of rain, and a top gust of 31mph — we had better during the "summer".

Looking at convective and helical (spouts, funnels etc) :

Thunderstorm activity seems to be mainly in the North and Scotland:

KO index all down Western side with a tiny bit down int he SE:

Not lots of CAPE available:

Convective showers pretty much all over:

Main threat to my untrained hobbyist eye still seems to be wind gusts and possible funnel or tornado:

Not nearly as bad as was forcast last night, it rained pretty bad mind. Worst gust was about 45mph at 4 am . Still pretty blustery now, gusting from about 25-35mph. Think it will be like this for the rest of the day here.

It was windy enough last night to make all the cattle get out , they have now formed an autonomous collective and are deciding for themselves which field to occupy.

A very gusty day out there with a steady strong wind inbetween. Rain has calmed down now and only drizzling now and again.

I would say it feels like proper autumn out there, but it actually feels quite warm even in the wind!

Pretty bad conditions in Cumbria this morning, Rail and road affected by flooding and standing water. The radio Cumbria travel news was a long winded one thats for sure!

Very windy, with the wind strength predicted to increase through this afternoon.

Winds increasing a lot now a very strong gust just recently as a shower moved in, in these showers conditions are fairly poor.
