Radar supports the same volume as elsewhere that's seeing heavy PPN but very light snow here blowing in the wind, nothing to show for it so far.... in Didsbury South Manchester

BBC Forecast had a gaffe at 15pm where it now shows rain across Shining Tor (east of Macclesfield) which just happens to be across the Cat & Fiddle Pass aswell as the highest point in Cheshire. Methinks not.

Apparently back in Southport there has been a mixture of freezing rain and snow which is becoming very icy. Im expecting a bit of snow for there later. To me, the cold front could deliver a covering to Merseyside, hence the METO warning.

I knew it was going to be a false event, they always are when the major weather people start talking and beating them up so early on. However i did expect at least some snow to start with to build a snowman, so far its just rain and ice. So have to wait until the next hype for my snowman... sad times :(

Does seem strange little snow in Wigan and here in Blackrod on the border with Wigan it has been nonstop for about an hour. Temp continues to fall now -1.3C

Sounds about right to me , we always miss out ,yet we can see Winter Hill glistening in snow :sorry:

Does anyone have any idea what is causing that heavier area of preciptation in south Lancashire/north Cheshire? Its really is notable on the radar and its not moving in any great hurry.

Im as north cheshire as you get the next road up is in lancashire lol but its still light snow at the momment not sure if radar is showing it correctly but has deffo slowed in the last hour

Its almost looks like its backbuilding on the radar animation.

As for this cold front, unless the warm and cold fronts occlude, I can't see how you can get snow on the cold front until the back edge of the cold front, there is a mild sector between the two fronts.

the temperature is definitely moving the wrong way, dp is fine, just my temp is now catching yours up.but i did say wouldnt be surprised to see it max out at -1C here (yours seems rather steady at the moment, considering my temp is just shooting right up from an hour or two ago)

Now the warm front is prepping up. Playing it back from 10am until now the marked difference in precip area is evident. http://www.metoffice...ather/uk/radar/
