Shocking news about Nigel Doughty, as a Derby fan this will totally overshadow tomorrow's game and my condonlances go out to his family.

Looks like here in Brum there is still quite a few hours left yet, although the accumulation total is only around 2cm.

Looking just lovely outside now. Everything goes so quiet once it has snowed.

Snapped this just before it got too dark but just after the gas street lamps we have came on. Love it round here in the snow!

been snowing in northampton for 30 mins but very fine. settling on surfaces, but nowhere near as heavy as i was imaging. will be very disappointed if this is all there is going to be.

It has picked up once again here in Earl Shilton. This really is lovely stuff. It's a shame the snow might not be about tomorrow really, it would make for a beautiful walk down to the local woods.

Not sure how significant this is, but the temp is definitely now rising here. We're up to -0.5 °C, which is almost a degree up from what it was a couple of hours ago and the warmest it's been all day.

I'd say there's around 1 and a half cm's out there for us. Is the heavier stuff due to hit us here soon?

Still coming down nicely, still a way off from a changeover as far as I can see.

And daylight snow to boot! Not too shabby!

Now for the turn of the south east and east...although it's making very slow progress....they'll need to stay up..we can have a normal night!

Good luck to the folks down there...best get the coffee on!

On the way back from the match, a good cm or two of powder snow. Met Office predicted 5-10cm so in reality it will be about 2-5cm (they almost always overstate it). Still, it's nice and dry snow!

This is the unspectacular situation in Leicester. Only just getting started to be fair as far as the forecasts are concerned.

We knew that was going to happen...but looking at those figures, it's not too much of a worry. Dew points still very favourable. A degree in a couple of hours isn't too bad. Similar events have seen a rise 10 times bigger than that in the same amount of time.

Something to keep an eye on but not anything too worrying or unexpected.

An inch or so here, perhaps slightly more in open areas. Still coming down - just to see some bigger flakes coming down now to add another quick layer on top of that. Looks like the PPN will be here until 8 or 9pm so if it stays as snow, it could be an interesting night. Is there any potential for more battle ground midweek?

If you look at the nae accumulated precipitation it really is for period from 6pm onwards that totals ESP from brum eastwards.

Therefore intensity should increase fairly soon. It certainly is getting heavier in Nottingham now.

I have a feeling the Nottingham area could be one of the best places for this event!

It is lovely to have *any* snow but tbh I was sort of expecting (from the forecasts/charts) a bit more than an afternoon of mostly snizzle. Obviously the night is young, but this doesn't warrant an amber snow warning. We'll be lucky to get to 3cm never mind 10!!! And IMBY the snizzle is disctinctly wet. Oh well, perhaps winter 12/13 will be different!
