Currently raining in Northampton.

yeah same here in welli. what on earth is going on? were virtually on the border of east anglia, how can the mild uppers get all the way to us?

very likely to turn to snow later on. but still...

When is that bulk of precip in the North Sea/Lincoln going to finally start moving S/SW? It's still moving S/SE and it's beginning to go to the East of Leicester! This wasn't in the script surely.

snowing here now, it turned from rain to snow about 1615-ground already re-covered, less than 1cm at the moment

T=0.6C Td=-0.9C

Certainly some odd stuff going on today!

We had a fair chunk of precip earlier according to radar but it wasn't making it to the surface before evaporation. Now it is making it to the surface as snow but now nothing but light stuff around according to radar! Big chunk of precip but 10 miles east of here. Now that's a snowshield :lol:

No idea whats going on the temp is minus 1 and rain.

The air higher up is above freezing due to the warm front so the snow is melting before it reaches the ground.

I would say sleet at present but just started

Its often snowed on my birthday including 9th feb 86 my 21st what a day that was

The bbc weather was a massive downgrade for snow with only a few centemeters for most possibly 5, it dosent change to snow west of brum until 9ish and clears mids around midnight just after. Flop

Latest BBC news 24 forecast that i watched at 17.57 seems to show most snow for your area and into Hants/Dorset/Wilts thru' the night

It was freezing rain!!! And now its turned to heavy snow! seriously though couldn't think of anything worse to drive in, its time for the met to give amber warning IMO

Its just started to snow in Kingsthorpe Northampton , and light dusting on pavement already, just suddenly changed from rain to snow in space of few minutes.

Though precipitation only moderate . Hoping for some heavier stuff in about 3 hours time.

very bizzare indeed here in Northamptonshire, rained for about 4 minutes, and then followed by snow. Didn't sleet at all, just rain directly into snow.

Well this pivot towards the SW is going to have go some to stop the SE corner from getting snow now? I have not seen any significant shift west all day, the ppn looks to have spilt into two and heading SE and SW? I HAVE I MISSED SOMETHING ???

I thought the same thing! And being IMBY it's not for the better for us!! But it defo looks like its split.

It seems the inversion (layer of milder air above freezing surface air) maybe creating a little havoc with the radar today!

Interesting looking at the recent METARs: 0c with rain /drizzle at Manchester -so ongoing freezing rain problem here, across the Peaks in Nottingham 1c with light snow.

Local ITV news Calender forecast no more than 1 cm for our region tonight ...not sure which model they are reading ..very light snizzle here atm @18:30 nothing settling ..way too wet , temps have dropped to 0c though ...lets see what happens over next few hours....!!

Light rain here, but it's making the same sound as if its hailing (when it hits the floor), so must have some ice content in the droplets, if that makes sense at all!

0.6C here and falling quite quickly, only a matter of time till it turns to snow IMO.
