I know some of the radars are crud at the moment, but the heavier Snow in the South East is literally Stationery from Chelmsford southwards over the last few radar returns, absolutely nothing here and nothing west of that band.............yet.

This is going to be a nowcast for the rest of the evening, there are also as expected some Showers in the North Sea which might be the pay off for areas further east who are out of the game at the moment. Main band is progressing as expected funneling through a gap bounded by Peterborough to the Penines and down towards West London and Bristol, if you drew a Rhombus this is where the heaviest Precip is still expected overnight, still would expect Oxford and the Cotswolds to do very well out of this!

Moderate to heavy snow here in Upminster Bridge for the last hour. Definitely settling too. Temperature has dropped from 0.7C to -0.2C since 6:45.

Soave snow-

Yes that Sat24 is good- the system is getting fed to the NE-

Still my eyes drawn to Norfolk...

Snow level 5 / 6 here- temp will be starting to drop- waiting for pavement cover-

Grass will be going white as its frozen

So is the radar still on the blink or not? I should be getting something but it's bone dry out there.

Yes. You need to be under the darker/deeper radar returns to see any chance of snow reaching the ground.

Evening all,

Have been trying to follow this very confusing scenario at work from time to time. At my son and daughters in Anerley London SE20 and snowing lightly.

How are we doing temp and dew point wise? Always concerned when a flow brings snow over the river but only a short distance and hopefully UHI wont be a factor for SE.London.

Regards,

Tom

Best get a warning out fast, especially for west parts of London that will likely get hit by the heavier stuff...this bodes a big problem for my drive to Guildford tomorrow if this continues.

Well my friend who works at Heathrow Airport, has just told me they have just gone code red! Which means severe disruption certain.

So Steve am I right in my assessment or am I totally wrong, just a heads up please?

Flakes getting bigger, snow getting heavier.

I have to say, the whole system seems to be moving much more S than SW at the moment. Great for our area, but if I were in the Midlands at the moment I would be tearing my hair out considering all the forecasts!
