Had a lightning strike about 10 miles away from here with the last rain that passed to the east of us. I'm currently in the middle of a ring of several lovely looking bits and pieces dropping rain, and its not raining here.

Have heard four booms of thunder towards Cardiff and that cell is heading this way but haven't heard anything in the last ten minutes.

If the showers/storms keep building from N Wales, I may just get to see something before the day is up as they are drifting my way. Under a line of sunny skies at the moment though. Looking across the Severn Estuary looks impressive in the Cardiff direction mind. Going to see if I can get any pictures after work in a minute!

How long is it before we loose the ability to build thunderstorms or can they go on into the night and source power?

This little lot has come from nothing in about 15 mins...Ibhave a cape around my area of 300 ish till about 7 tonight..APPRENTLY

Been out and about in the East of our region today and all we had was some pretty dynamic rain showers and some soft hail. Came back 30 mins ago to a large cell over Eastbourne but it amounted to nothing and I'm just going to check the radar to see if there is any strength left in the day to give us one more chance before dusk.

Another frustrating day for storm here, as was yesterday. Showers popped up all around me and today is the same story. I seem to be in no mans land where I am as storms fired up earlier on in the midlands moving SE, now storms are building west of London.

A cell just affected Skipton with hail, thunder, lightning and sleet, but it's decaying now, as I expected. Is it really so hard to get a decent storm here?
