Still going....this by FAR exceeds anything I'd have dreamed of for tonight!!! There's bolts and flashes to my north and west and a multitude of flashes coming from behind me to the East!!!

The bigger French imports are still perhaps two hours away.

So with Tweedle Dum over Belgium giving birth to dozens of storm, her younger sister Tweedle Dee is now starting to electrify and will make landfall soon , somewhere on the Essex coast around Clacton.....shes a pretty big mamma aswell. Tonight is going to be long.....

Harry this storm is trivial in lightning compared to what I saw the other week, but still two thunderstorms so far this year :D

How long do you think storms will continue to keep being 'born' for? smile.png

Depends on how long the moist feed in from E Europe lasts for, I guess; given precipitation forecasts for the S England, I'd guess for quite some time, yet.

No chance of anything turning more northward? If not I'm off to bed!

The showery burst of rain here a while ago gave birth to the storm now being experienced in NW Kent I think!

I've just stood gazing at the Channel in an easterly direction (only a couple of minutes walk from the cliff edge here) and there's nowt to be seen at the moment. Looking promising though given there's no weakening in those monster cells in France :)

Really???? Where was that!???

This is flashing away like an absolute loon!!! Still about a flash every 10 seconds at least...which is cushty :D

Most of the sferics appear to be veering more to the north of here now, but still thunder around and plenty of flashing going on - rain slowly easing too! After that incredibly close CG earlier I might be brave enough to head out for a cig, LOL!!!!

If the mess over the continent taps into whatever's up above us, boy there wont be much sleep tonight AT ALL!!!!

Really couldn't tell to be honest from here...there's definitely a bit of sheer about which I saw up there earlier....supercellular characteristics couldnt be ruled out...

WOW THAT WAS A HUGE FLASH!!!!

Just been woken by thunder here in Ware, Herts. Thought I'd give you guys a report. Fast moving little storms though, seem to have passed now. Rather unexpected in any case and the first after dark lightning I've seen for years!

Estofex mentioned that a few supercell events are possible. If you haven't had strong gusts, it's highly unlikely ... for now. I've had rain, thunder and lightning, but no associated gusts or hail .... yet
