1st post so hi! A huge tower developed to the South of here as can be seen from the satellite around an hour ago and has finally reached here giving a little smattering of rain right now but nothing in the way of lightning or even a deluge... yet sorry.gif

4 years waiting for a decent storm might just have to go on- the last really great storm I saw here was 24th June 1994 - never thought I'd have to wait this long without seeing that type again, so much for SE England and loads of storms!

Seems to be a good line up from Kent, through London up towards Beds, Bucks & Herts and the East Midlands. These showers will pep up some more I think, slow moving.

Hate to be a pain, but as this cold front moves north east will my chances increase later on in Ipswich?

The CF has seemingly pushed too far east for anything to kick off here now....the east will get the storms once again....a familiar story. TBH I did have high hopes for today and now Wed is looking like the action will be further south and east of here. NSC is very much a pertinent place for me right now! Over a year and counting.

Looks like they were picked up from the cells to my w and NW. Will keep an ear out for thunder but I think it's just too far away. Dark hazy sky out there though, and the towers seem quite high, almost coming over my house aha!

The guy next door has just decided to mow the lawn, so any faint rumbling is being drowned out by grass getting murdered... :(mellow.png

I might go round there.

WAIT! Just had a rumble :D

Cell away towards Bedford, at the mo...

I used to tune mw to somewhere just off the old Five-Live station, @ about 700...I think that LW and MW are am signals.

I think they just mean that the convection is interfering with the radio waves, so there's some crackling. On a clear day you wouldn't get this but on humid, thundery days like today you're likely to get some crackling from signal loss. Correct me if I'm wrong.

http://en.wikipedia....i/Noise_(radio)

Atmospheric noise is radio noise caused by natural atmospheric processes, primarily lightning discharges in thunderstorms.
