I think what I can see is actually near Cambridge, that's definitely about 50 miles!

Yep - you guessed it - right in the middle of the two areas of sferics. Not one nor the other but betwixt and between.

Surely with expectation of some interest in the Birmingham/Manchester area, alter (see GFS 12z precip charts) there could still be more to come? Especially, as the MetO warning doesn't expire for another six hours?

It is quite dark to my east & rain today is showing a shower, but nothing on the lightning detector & it appears to be moving due North anyway.

Just drove home from work and the rain was torrential! Roads were like a river around Thurrock, constant rumble of thunder at Basildon now

Towering CU now blocking the sun, looks to be going up quite quickly, heading straight for me. Will take pics incase it actually develops into something.

Ahem....11 storms this year Mister. (More than some of us have had in the last five years put together) As my right honorable friend, the member for Crewe said...take away that glum face si'l vous plait.

There looks to be a TCu now in the beginning stages just shy south of where I am, RADAR doesn't show much precip yet but it's a go'er looking at the defined structure.

That'll be what's just gone to our east. radar shows it enlarging but decreasing in intesity if anything & I haven't seen any sferics.

It's still possible, that clearing skies behind this front early enough could kick of round two,

But I've got to be honest, it feels like clutching a straws ....
