Hi John

Just wanted to say thanks and well done for your forecast from a while back that things would look up from 21st July. Even down here in West Wales it has been dry, sometines sunny and quite warm. Which is about as good as it gets for this part of the world. We realised half way along the journey that we had forgotten to pack raincoats, which generally would be a disaster even in July. So far, though, we have got away with it - will it last? If this weather continues I'll have to scour the local shops for a bottle of After Sun (one was sold here in 2003 apparently)

hi biggin

fax chart for friday

the fax chart for friday is exactly the same as last night

this creates a problem as we have a front moving down from the north

and also we have a plume moving up from the south

if you look at saturdays fax it shows the front has moved through from the north

it also shows the plume to our east

the timing of either one being delayed could make friday dry

if the one from the north gets here first it will be heavy rain

the plume from the south first would give us some impressive storms

hence my holding fire for the moment on friday

hope that helps

hi as

thanks for your kind words

friday may be a bit wet for you

but i think you may need to get some vintage after sun for the next two days at least rofl.gif

for what its worth i think august for the south east will be a sunshine and showers month

nothing like last month

mid month i think the jet will weaken and could set in an easterly which would be

warm not hot but pleasent and a few showery days

just my thoughts again smile.png

Keeping eye on Friday, I say goodbye to mum on that day, Hope the sun shines.

Hi Biggin, sorry to hear of your loss.

I hope the weather is kind to you. Your post and others made me think about my own similar loss nearly 10 years ago and I can't honestly remember what the weather was like, although I think I'd have remembered heavy rain.

Everyone is different, but I found the day very sombre during the funeral; strangely I then quite 'enjoyed' the wake. It was also a day I really didn't look forward to, but it was absolutely necessary to help with my grieving and then subsequent healing process.

Best wishes.

Hello Biggin,

My thoughts are with you, here are a few words which were said at my grans funeral a couple of years ago and always bring me comfort.

Do not stand at my grave and weep;

I am not there.

I do not sleep.

I am a thousand winds that blow.

I am the diamond glints on snow.

I am the sunlight on ripened grain.

I am the gentle autumn's rain.

When you awaken in the morning's hush,

I am the swift uplifting rush

Of quiet birds in circled flight.

I am the soft stars that shine at night.

Do not stand at my grave and cry;

I am not there.

I did not die.

Morning all,

Another lovely one here, it's already 16 deg c - unfortunately for me I'm working most of today but will try to get out for an hour when I get a break later !

For those of you who will be outside today don't forget to Slip, Slop, Slap and drink plenty of water...

Morning each. Looks like another scorcher here in Norwich. Off to Ippy again later this evening.

I remember my fathers funeral 32 years ago and it was very windy (it was May) and quite dramatic. My mothers (September 2006) was sunny and warm and it thundered on the way back from York. Norwich was having a corker of a storm. 13th September 2006.

Thanks so much for all your kind thoughts and messages, I shall tell mum to try and make a bit of noise up there for us Friday evening:)

Aww, bless. I'm sure she'll do her best. ((hugs))

It certainly feels hotter here today, it's 20.5 °C but the humidity is much higher than yesterday at 58% right now so it feels a bit sticky, I'm working most of the day but lucky for me my treatment room is shady and there is a bit of breeze coming in through the open window. By the time I'm done at 7pm I will be ready for a cool drink in the garden and it's sausage sizzle night tonight !

30°C in the new factory, a current internal record and still not the hottest part of the day (isn't it even hotter tomorrow?)

Hot and sticky and even with the windows open at work it's roasting... laaaaavly! biggrin.png

Even the fish pond in the work garden is starting to look appealing, I wonder if anyone would notice if I went for a dip.

I do hope it is hot tomorrow as well, I finish at 3pm!

im off to-day its boiling roll on Friday when the rain comes back!!

Another glorious day here.cool.png

Just looking at the GFS 6:00 chart, then it appears we, in the SE, still have a reasonable chance of t&l on Friday afternoon / evening, even if the really high levels of CAPE and the lower lifted index figures are reserved for the near continent.

It's so hot that even my thermometer is saying that it is hot. This is what happens when you leave it in the sun (again) and on a black surface, it shoots past 80 degrees!

I expect there will be quite a few people cooling off in ponds and fountains this lunchtime, especially all those folks working in stuffy offices in the city..

....I wouldn't want to be on the underground or public transport in this weather with all the sweaty bodies around me...someone was telling me last week a person stunk on their bus so a woman got out her impulse and sprayed it over him (the smelly person not my friend)

Well, thanks to a signal failure last night, it took me 2 hours to get home (normally journey 40 minutes) via the useless South-Eastern trains - roll on the London Olympics when the real fun and games begin... If it was chaotic last night, we haven't seen anything yet!

Anyway, as for the weather, I am off to work in an air conditioned office later this afternoon, so it can get as humid and hot as it likes!

Edit - well, that is until it gives SE trains another excuse to cause chaos. Usually it's buckling train tracks in the summer...

The difference between here and sheerness is quite astonishing....shows you how the sea breezes make such a marked effect.... It's steady at 29.4c here but only 21c at sheerness.....http://www.iossc.org.uk/weather/

Why can't all of summer be like this! week with sun then a few days of rain and then back to sun again.

Has 30C been broken in any of the offical stations in the SE yet? Possibly St James Park?
