Morning CM, it is unseasonably warm at the moment but at least the fog and mist kept at bay until I was just North of Lewes. I think this weekends cold blast will be quite a shock after this initial warmer period as the change will be quite quick during Friday. Looks like we should all be getting our onesies on this weekend!

Have a lovely time!

Well I think you'll be in the last place to be affected by the cold blast, but it will be a bit chllier than of late everywhere down here. Take your thermals!

Oooh, you lucky thing. I love Cornwall and I bet it's lovely at this time of year. Have a great time. biggrin.png

I will do all of the above thanks peeps ;-)

The ECM shows 528 dam more or less over as far as the south,510 more northern Scotland. The GFS shows the 528 dam line further north. With tight isobar.

Don't want it to cold mate-wont snow at all.

Just a point re jasons charts

During the summer or spring these charts can be misread. However during winter they are likely to be cold. Hopefully the links above will be helpful

These ensembles are showing a cold spell not a snap

Hi Jason

I just wanted to point out to folk that the dark blues on your charts do not indicate the colder areas, maybe you could post the 850 temp charts to

go with them. I'm more of a cold weather fan, snow is a big bonus. The 510 dam line on the south coast would be good clapping.gif

I think the trend at the moment is slightly below average temps but maybe a more zonal setup, if that makes sense.

Am I the only sentient being to be irked by the phrase "cold snap?" It implies something momentary that is then gone straight away and is used mindlessly by endless Daily Mail and Daily Express pseudo journalists regardless of the length of any cold spell. Hands up who has heard of a "hot snap?" Thought so.

Well after another prolonged spell of absence due to ongoing health problems I finally returned to my workplace at Heathrow today for a late shift. 1.45pm start. The top of the control tower was just about visible through the murk. As I drove around the Perimeter Road I couldn't help casting an envious eye towards the aircraft taking off, bound for less gloomier climes.

Now Im no fan of cold weather working where I do, but even Im beginning to look forward to some crisp clear frosty days. Have a good week everyone.

Yes, it is looking increasingly likely that once the cold sets in through this coming friday then it will be around for weeks, with a risk of some very potent cold spells, what we have is some indications that even here in the south snow could arrive at some point, but for the first round so far this looks unlikely apart form wintry showers/sleet on low ground, but any upgrade could shift more towards and angle were we do get more then that.
