Heavy Rain, Flooding, High Winds - 21st November onward

It's quite concerning how rapidly the situation in the SW is worsening - the number of flood warnings is increasing every 15 minutes - there were 50 at 11pm, when it last updated at 23:25, there were 60.

There are now 105 flood warnings ("Flooding is expected. Immediate action required") and 207 flood alerts, blimey.

Rain has intensified here over the past hour or so, ~35mm has fallen so far.

At least the rain has now cleared the western end of Cornwall, and some SW parts of Wales

The railway lines in the SW have all but shut down due to flooding.

Most roads are flooded, even trunk roads.

Haven't seen so much rain in a very very long time & there is another round to go tomorrow evening by the looks of it.

Constant reports here, on Ian Fergusson's twitter feed;

Met Office "Be Prepared" Warning's been taken down off the website. Possibly upgrading to a Red in parts of the South West and Amber Warnings for other parts of the Country being issued I reckon.

I was also thinking that. I know the warning was due to expire at midnight (I think) but with the rapidly increasing number of Severe/Flood Warnings they can't honestly believe this isn't sufficient of atleast an Amber Warning still.

I've just walked home and what the radar is showing and what is happening is completely different. I'm hardly wet so perhaps I got lucky.

Roads look like the monsoon has happened but all the drains are blocked so surprise.

I think I got lucky walking home.

Well according to the davis its 6 mm an hour here and it's just jumped up.

Looking at the radar it looks like 2007 here when Sheffield got flooded. Difference it's not stalled and the radar is over doing it.

I'm guessing we've had between 15 and 25 mm here so far.

Across the Southern coasts are reporting mainly gusts over 40mph. Some places are gusting over 50mph though. The low is currently situated over Southern England and should continue to move in a NE direction. Wind speeds will continue to increase through tonight and into the morning.

A recent video upload from tonight's flooding in the south west

Not surprised at that, I'm about 8-10 miles NE of Exmouth and today (yesterday now) according to my Davis i had 67mm of rain :o never expected that much.

Never seen the flooding quite so bad just down the lane either! pretty bad outside my house too. (am at home this weekend)

Just up the lane and round the corner a big wall 12ft tall by 30ft long at a rough guess collapsed into the road! taking fences and the edge of someones garden with it!

also saw flashing lights a bit like distant fireworks and odd pops/bangs i didn't know what were, and later a very bright flash and pop from across the valley (presumably electric). Now the River Otter is flooded a lot and rising.

Rain just kept being very heavy over this area this evening and finished with a truly torrential downpour (heaviest anywhere on radar)

A few rivers in Devon seem to be at record levels (since whenever gauging station set up)

Off to bed now hopefully some pics to upload in the morning.

988mb (apparently, according to my old weather station) here and falling rapidly. Expecting very strong gusts later this morning.

Edit: Think the pressure could be a wee bit low, maybe add a few mb haha.
